How do you define high G+A? He had 15 G+A across all competition for the past 2 years and so far he only has 1, so it's not wrong to say he's been underwhelming this year. But as coolman44 said, even when "bad", he's still very crucial to us.

It could also be a slight tweak to his role tactically. His G+A contribution in general is not bad at all for a midfielder, but people (unfairly imo) put too much stock into the numbers because he’s a star player in the world’s eye. You shouldn’t expect as many goals for him as say Frattesi even if Barella is the better player.

You're in a place where people demand stuff above perfection from most players and praise ridiculously basic moves from others, while turning a blind eye to the negatives...

To avoid that, just stop paying attention to the noise and keep your eyes and ears focused on the substance.

For a midfielder like Barella to get into a goalscoring position it means to roam and to take chances. He does not need to do so since our strikers are scoring consistently this season. He is perfectly fine as he is and everything else is extra.

I wouldnt say he was unlucky cause he avoided terrible injury in the same game. It is what it is, atleast we didnt lose this one.

His ceiling is so high, alas a shame that his top performance is once in a blue moon and then followed by a series of average game. When he hits the spot though, he is a one man midfield and he grips the game masterfully. Not only he is omnipresent versus Napoli, he demonstrated his vision by a pass/dummy for Hakan's goal and a pass for Thuram's disqualified goal. And since when he can dance with the ball? You would thought it was Mkhi who slalomed through Napoli defence.

Best performance of the season so far. Goal was sexy af, but his contribution in overall was satisfying to watch, some of the first touches and also passing in overall was on point. Also on Thuram's goal, he found Cuadrado in the right side which put him in a great opportunity.
