95 million. It's a pretty high release clause.

The Football Italia article says its somehow our way of showing commitment to not wanting to sell the player next season, but that doesnt really make a lot of sense to me - nothing stops you frmo accepting a bid below release clause... release clause is just a "mandatory" acceptance

Anyway, hey, if Thuram wants to get a release clause in his contract because he hopes he'll be that good, I can only hope it succeeds. 95mil would be insanely good for him. Here's to hoping someone pays it next summer. Wont happen, though.

On release clauses as far as I'm aware in recent history, we've only had 4. Icardi (110), Lautaro (111), Broz (50?), Thuram (95). I dont recall if Perisic ever had one. Cant think of any others, in the first team at least

Marotta hates release clauses. It's a bit weird he accepted inserting one for Thuram.

I'd assume, but dont know, its come from the player. Football italia article here - https://football-italia.net/details-behind-thuram-inter-contract-revealed/

I would assume it comes from the player - release clauses like this only benefit the player. If a player doesnt want to move, a release clause doesnt guarantee they move - just that a bid will be accepted. I wonder if we'll hear any details on why its in.

We'd sell him for 30% from that
Imagine if a club were to offer 85m for him; we would reject that. Next year, we would either sell him like Brozo or let him leave for free like Skriniar!
Our club's ability to sell players is truly unmatched... in finding new and innovative ways to make fans scratch their heads

Can I just ask how/where Thuram is meant to feature?

I do not know much about him and I always have doubts about players that have suffered knee injuries and what they can offer a club going forward.

Is it the case that he was brought in as a rotational/substitute for Lukaku? Is he meant to be the Correa we never had? Could he possibly start alongside Lautaro if Lukaku is injured, out of form or a combination of both?

Dzeko's roster spot.

Role will depend if we fuck up and bring Lukaku back.

If someone pays 95M for Thuram he will have had a season beyond our wildest dreams. By all means.
This. :D

The release clause is not our concern at all. I'm happily selling this guy for 95m if such scenario would become reality.

pretty hyped for this move I think his first season with us will be around 10 goals and 7 assists but his pace alone should help unlock more space for lauti who I think will have a great season

yea it is just a empty gesture that doesn't guarantee shit, trying to fake like oh we value you so much and don't want people to snatch you away so we will at a high release clause to keep people from acquiring; but then turn around and ask for 35M hoping to get 20M

Actually quite impressive how you spin a release clause, which was probably requested by the player as it is not Inter's standard procedure, into an 'empty gesture' into a whole betrayal arc.

My bad then, thought you made up the entire sequence yourself.
