Juventus' Awful History

I wanted to create this thread to kind of document all the illegal means by wich Juve have accumulated wins and trophies in their history, mostly recently.

Sometimes I find myself scratching my brain to remember some incidents in which Juve cheated their way. I would be arguing with someone trying to point the numerous incidents or just trying to think things over by myself.

Anyway, I will list the few that I know, and hope others add some more. Pictures and news bits are also welcome.

For me, the ultimate one is the penalty, or lack of, against Iuliano on Ronaldo in 98. That cost us a scudetto, not to mention that season had many other favourable calls to Juve, but I sadly can't remember.

Also, the entire doping trial is another glaring evidence. I think this is the most damaging one from a neutral's perspective. Enough was said, but nothing was done about this one.

There was an incident in 99/00 when Lazio were hot on Juve's heals. I forgot the exact incident, but I remember Cragnotti - in his postmatch anger - threatening to expose Juve if Lazio end up losing the title.

More recently, there was a game in october 2003 against Bologna. Zambrotta took a dive admittedly, and Juve won thanks to that goal.

Also, there is the fake penalty against Roma this year. First, Zlatan was offside; second, there was no foul; and third, the 'alteraction' between Dellas and Zalayeta happened outside the box.

I hope some of you dig deep and come up with more and more incidents. I just wanted to document them so that they won't be forgotten due to their enormity!

People following Serie A should not be surprise when so many dubious incidents involving Gobbi gors their way.
As Mr Marcotti stated few months ago - referring decisions usually balances itself out by the end of the season. Though there is always a clear distiction when it come to the old lady.

If only there were more men such as Zeman out there!

Here is a small segment of old ladies superiority so far this season only.
Those who had the privilege to watch an orgasmic display in Olympico in round 27 can add those incidents themselves! ;-)

2nd round:

Juventus broke the deadlock soon after with Trezeguet's second goal of the season. It was a controversial goal, as Gianluca Zambrotta's effort was fumbled and the Frenchman practically kicked the ball out of Massimo Taibi's hands.

3rd round:

The Bianconeri took the lead after 19 minutes when Alessandro Del Piero successfully converted a penalty kick, awarded for a dubious shirt tug on Emerson.
The referee awarded a penalty for Fabio Cannavaro's challenge on Flachi, then changed his mind after consulting with his linesman.

4th round:

There was controversy on 20 minutes when Farias fell under Fabio Cannavaro's challenge in what might have been considered a last man foul, but the referee waved play on.

However, it was Juventus who drew level in controversial circumstances. Trezeguet's header was only parried into the path of Ibrahimovic and the goalkeeper couldn't keep out this second effort. However, replays suggest the Frenchman may have been offside when the cross came in.

6th round:
Arturo Di Napoli combined well with Parisi and fell under a challenge from Fabio Cannavaro, but his penalty appeals were waved away.


9th round:

Chievo felt hard done by soon after when an incorrect offside decision stopped Federico Cossato as he was one on one with Gianluigi Buffon.

Round 12:

Juve should have taken the lead after two minutes, as Zlatan Ibrahimovic ran on to a quickly taken Emerson free kick and somehow blazed it wide of an open goal. It was also a lucky escape for the referee, as the Swede was clearly offside when the kick was taken.

Round 14:

Massimo Oddo needed a goalline clearance to prevent Ibrahimovic drawing level, even if he was probably in an offside position, then Del Piero's volley was off target.

Round 15:

There was controversy on 64 minutes when Cipriani rushed into the box and fell under a tackle from Lilian Thuram. The Frenchman did not make contact with the ball but did clip his ankle, so this was more of a penalty shout for the home side.

Round 16:

Milan had the first real scoring opportunity after just three minutes. Shevchenko rolled the ball across the face of goal and Hernan Crespo just failed to get on the end of it from six yards. The ex-Chelsea man complained and replays show Jonathan Zebina did hold him back by his shoulder.
There were more complaints when Zebina seemed to drag Kakha Kaladze down by his neck as a free kick was floated in, but once again the referee waved play on.

Milan were still having the better of the play with Juventus giving the ball away surprisingly easily. Shevchenko was halted for a debatable offside flag as he prepared to face Buffon, then the Ukrainian's effort was charged down by Thuram.

Round 18:

Juve were beginning to struggle, but managed to restore their two-goal cushion with 15 minutes to go. Alessio Tacchinardi's cross was touched back for an Ibrahimovic piledriver from the edge of the box. There were protests that Zalayeta handled the ball, but the referee waved play on.

Round 19:

Nedved was again involved, as he combined with Trezeguet and lifted a cross in for Emerson's header to enter off the underside of the crossbar. Cagliari were furious as Trezeguet was offside when he took part in the move, but the goal was validated.

It's useless. Juventus probably won all those scudettos by cheating and bribing the referees. Pathetic people. Resorting to such methods.

I hope they finally get exposed, and get all of their scudettos taken awya from them. And hopefully get dumped to Serie B too... :frustrat:

Of all the fans best suited to write an accurate historical background on Juventus in Serie A, i would assume that Inter fans are amongst those most knowledgeable.

As a true anti-juve im constantly doing my homework
Its a mixture of things published on the net and also games Ive seen them on tv! I kind of gave up after the Roma game as I couldn’t take anymore :fero:

An episode that is rarely mentioned is about a Juve v Roma several years ago.

It was winter, and most players were wearing gloves. A Roma player (I could swear it was Aldair but I might be wrong) went to take a throw in. Without any reason whatsoever, the assistant ref put his hand on the Roma player's arm.

The ball slipped from his hand and fell to a Juve player. He passed it immediately to Ravanelli while the Roma players stood still in disbelief. Ravanelli shot and scored.

The protest from the Roma players was fierce, they almost killed the assistant ref!
