01) Goalkeeper of the season
Julio Cesar - No need for explanation
Toldo
Orlandoni
02) Defender of the season
Maicon - A hard choice. Maicon has been inconsistent for us throughout the year, mixing performances of the highest quality with walking around the pitch as if he could care less. But this season, there are a lot more crucial matches than before, and we need that spark to set us off. I choose him because I feel that we can do with his inconsistency but cannot do without his spark.
Samuel - An absolute wall of consistency this season. With Lucio as the one that's more of a 'maverick,' I feel that Samuel is the more stable one.
Javier Zanetti - Just shades Lucio because the Brazillian had too many brain farts this season to my liking. Over the last 2-3 months, Il Capitano has just been producing the best performances I've ever seen from our captain in the Inter jersey. Impregnable.
03) Midfielder of the season
Sneijder - Offensive midfielder of the decade, let alone season. He has been the missing link that our team needs the most. In a midfield where we are not very good in keeping the ball in possession, it is crucial to have a player who have 'visions' in his head and launched the ball quickly. That is what Sneijder has been for us. I would not swap him for any midfielder in the world, be it Xavi, Iniesta or Lampard.
Cambiasso - Started off the season slowly, just like Il Capitano, but proved that he's the world's best DM, silencing Xavi, Lampard & Schweinsteiger.
T.Motta - Had almost a very bad first few months in his Inter career, but as time passes, he proves to be the most complete midfielder we've had in recent years. Discipline, tactical astuteness, vision and strength.
04) Striker of the season
Diego Milito - Best Inter striker ever. Build a statue of him in front of the Meazza.
Eto'o - Does he belong here or in the midfielder section?
Jokes aside, his work rate and experience this season has been invaluable. There's no other striker like him in the world.
Pandev - Worked hard for the team despite being offensively inept after February. And I just can't vote for someone who threw the Inter jersey to the floor.
05) Player of the season
Diego Milito - Up until April, I actually think that Sneijder would get this award easily. But in the month of May, Milito just fucking exploded. In all my life as a football fan, I have not seen a player who scores that much crucial goals in the space of one month. Have you?
Sneijder - It took someone special to solve the decade-long Inter midfield myopia and he has done just that.
Maicon - The best RB in the world and his marauding run from the back has often been the key to confuse the opposition's game plan. How people want to sell him for 40-50m is just beyond me. He is simply the best in his position and that aspect of his game in invaluable, and most importantly, irreplaceable even by Il Capitano.
06) Worst player of the season
Muntari - Actually he hasn't been too bad but he just have to get this award because I have not seen someone who can lose his team the game with just 85 seconds on the pitch.
His performances against Barca @ the Meazza in the group stages was also a nightmare.
Santon - Very disappointed with him. He set the bar very high after last season's breakthrough performances and Santon's disappearance has probably been the darkest hole in an otherwise bright season.
Quaresma - Goodbye Q7 besiktas carsi the best in turkey sasasacrtyhooligansqqwelcometohell
07) Most improved player of the season (Compared from last season)
Samuel - He was shaky at times last season, but he has picked his game up and performed very consistently this season.
Cambiasso - In Europe, specifically. At times he looks lost in the Champions League but this season, he has been the competition's #2 midfielder.
Maicon - Same like Cambiasso, Maicon has broken his and Inter's European curse in style. His performances against Barcelona were a relief after he looked clueless against Man Utd last season.
08) Surprise player of the season (In a good way)
Diego Milito - I never thought that any signing, or any Inter player, can be this decisive. This, after we (I, one of them) derided the transfer thinking that Acquafresca stands a brighter future with our colors.
Sneijder - Honestly thought he'd struggle with us because he couldn't shine with Real Madrid. His signing was also overshadowed because we wanted Diego more. How wrong were we.
Javier Zanetti - I thought Il Capitano would just be someone consistent, without any stand out performances. But he has actually managed to be consistent at a higher level than expected.
09) Best incoming transfer
Diego Milito - Lost for words already.
Wesley Sneijder - See above.
Lucio - The defensive 'fire' that complements so well with Samuel's calmness.
10) Worst incoming transfer
Arnautovic - Seriously overrated. Haven't impressed me with a single thing all season.
11) Best outgoing transfer
Big nose - Got us the big ears
Mancini -
Still can't believe we manage to offload him, to Milan no less.
Felt like a redemption after the Carini - Cannavaro debacle 6 years ago.
12) Best moment of the season
Scudetto #18 - Overtake Milan on the Scudetto count, something I never thought I'd witness in my lifetime. Record-equaling 5th consecutive Scudetto. And perhaps most importantly, pissed all over Romanisti.
Champions League - Especially happy for Il Capitano and Moratti. Watching Zanetti lift that trophy with that mad dog kind of face just made me go
Julio Cesar PK save against Milan - It was the moment that epitomizes a season when we won against everyone and everything.
13) Worst moment of the season
Roma - Inter 2-1 - I really thought that we'd lose the Scudetto at that point.
Mourinho leaving - It was inevitable, and I prepared myself for it. But it's just impossible to forget the unforgettable one...
Juventus - Inter 2-1 - Giving the scums the chance to celebrate was just something I couldn't stomach.
14) Best goal of the season (Quality wise)
Stankovic vs Genoa - I've never seen such a goal. I mean I've seen lobs from the halfway line, even those beyond it. But have you seen one when it's a first time volley off the goalkeeper's clearance?
Motta vs Milan - More passes were stroke during Maicon's goal (17 I think?) but the movement, the triangle and the teamwork for this goal just stood out more.
Eto'o vs Parma - I'm just a sucker for those softly-hit curler to the top corner. Inter hasn't scored one like that in years if I recall correctly.
15) Most dominant (Best performance) match of the season
Inter - Barcelona 3-1 - Just absolutely perfect performance by everyone on the field. Counter attack football at its best. We completely exploited Barca's weaknesses while performed what was thought as impossible, stopping that Barca juggernaut. The fact that we were a goal down was even more memorable too. To anyone who thinks whines 33 - 67 ball possession or whatever shit, it's like having a dick that's twice larger than mine but you can't get it erected. Wtf is the point then?
Inter - Milan 4-0 - Ooo la la
Chelsea - Inter 0-1 - Against a team that's been one of CL's most consistent performers, we took the game to them and the scoreline was even flattering to them.
16) Best performance by a player in a single match
Milito against Bayern - Ridiculously effective. And it's not just your typical poacher kind of striker's goal. He worked hard, ran his ass off and with typical sniper precision, brought us to the dreamland.
Sneijder against Chelsea - Should have had 5 assists maybe. Felt like he had Byakugan.
(Naruto reference)
Zanetti against Messi - The first leg of the semis at the Meazza. The world's best player (Hah!
) was silenced by our great captain. Funny how Pupi is almost twice Messi's age.
