Wonder if I can
CREMA - Celso Battaia, a former Inter defender who immortalised Angelo Moratti's Great Inter team during his subsequent career as a photographer, has died in Crema at the age of 87.

Born in Milan on 1 February 1920, Battaia made his debut for Ambrosiana-Inter in an away match against Livorno on 21 May 1939. He collected 36 appearances (33 in Serie A, 3 in Coppa Italia), winning the 1939/40 Scudetto when Tony Cargnelli's team overcame Bologna at the San Siro on 2 June 1940, thanks to a goal from Ferraris II. Battaia pulled on an Inter shirt for the last time in an away game against Venezia on 25 April 1943. After his playing career, which included spells at AC Milan and Cremonese, he became a professional photographer.

Massimo Moratti and F.C. Internazionale offer their heartfelt condolences to Celso Battaia's daughter Claudia, son-in-law Paolo, and grandson Guido.
