Because you have people like Kompany who just vote for his Belgian buddies in the top 3 positions.

And then you also have people like Cristiano Ronaldo who voted for his Real Madrid buddies in the top 3 positions. There is no way ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

Hummels, whose team is dead last in bundesliga?

Godin yes. Also cana voted for ronaldo, robben and muller, certified G

still better than David Luiz, imo.

who'd u put instead of him.

this team still better than last years nonsense

Luiz is nowhere near good enough to make it world 11.

Godin, Pepe, Boateng (who IMO is second best CB in the world last year), Benatia, Kompany are all better than him or had better year.

It's not a trophy for the players who won the most trophys (world cup, cl...), but about who was the most popular. And Ronaldo was the most popular, without any doubts.

Fixed

Didn't take this trophy serious since Sneijder didn't win it.

Agreed, the fact he didn't even make the top 3 showed what a complete farce it is. Obviously it's a year long competition and Ronaldo is great at scoring game after game and is a physical freak but he never seems to play well in really big matches, his last two CL finals he's played in he's been one of the worst players on the pitch. I mean it was Ramos and to a lesser extent Bale that they won that CL final, then he scored a penalty (just to make it look like he contributed) when the games already over and run's away with some ridiculous arrogant celebration like he was the hero of the hour. Like i said great player but scoring week after week against teams with the budgets of some English League One sides doesn't do that much for me.

He scored 17 goals in 11 games in CL, that's a fantastic record no matter what he did in finals. He missed one game against Dortmund and Madrid were just inches away from being KOed from CL.

Also Spainsh team's budget might be League one teams but their quality is better than PL.

Almost all players signed from La Liga's second tier clubs are stars in Premier League.

City's main players Aguero, Toure, Silva, Navas, Zabaleta all signed from second tier clubs except Toure.

Chelsea: Azpilicueta (not signed from La Liga team directly but he was La Liga players for years before moving to French league), Fabregas, Costa, Luis are from second tier clubs except Fabregas.

ManUtd: Di Maria, Herrera, Mata, Falcao (not directly), De Gea are from La Liga.

Arsenal: Sanchez, Carzola, Ozil, Monreal, Arteta are from La Liga.

Few years ago Liverpool signed players like Torres, Alonso, Arbeloa, Reina who were superb players and all from La Liga.

Their budget might be small but quality is just amazing.

I would not count Arteta as one from La Liga. He has played in the UK for 12 years.

I still agree with you though.

He played 15 matches for Sociedad in a half year. Before that he had played in Rangers for two years and a single year in PSG. He came from La Liga but his development did happen aswell because of his stays in Paris and Glasgow. So technically are you right but I still wouldn't count him as a product from a second tier club in Spain.

Nevermind this discussion is not that important. :)

But is the quality of La liga players is good, not really the quality of the teams. Anyway is a great acomplishment by Cristiano to have scored 17 goales in 11 games in CL and all that.. :)

I completely agree with you, the player quality coming out of Spain is amazing from top to bottom in La Liga despite their meagre budget's. However that is not what i said, i said how incredibly poor their defenders are, when you have some one like Albiol with 50 odd caps, Arbeloa etc, just useless defenders getting so many caps and being the pinnacle of Spanish defenders tells you something on how bad the defenses are lower down the table (considering most of the defenders are natives of Spain) and also the fact they actually try to play football as opposed to bus parking.

His goal scoring record in the CL was amazing last season, but like i said i just find that most of the times towards the end of the CL and the likes he usually goes missing. It was Ramos who was the real hero in bringing back that trophy, Real would have made the semis with or without Ron imo. Sounds like i am totally ripping in to him but i to a lesser extent feel the same about Messi, when i think of the greatest players i have watched i think of R9 scoring that amazing hattrick at Old Trafford and coming back from career threatening injuries to secure Brazil their 5th world cup, Zidane scoring two headers in the WC final or his last minute double to save them against England. With these two, especially Ronaldo yea they scored an incredible amount of goals and set numerous records but i feel like i'm looking at record stats with the guy rather than looking at a footballing phenomenon.
