Amorim vs Gasperini

Grazy spectacle . Gykoreres the new swedish superstar . Let's see how this goes.

Tbf, did the away goals rule ever benefit Inter? We're the club that once got eliminated on away goals in a two-legged tie where both games were played in the same fucking stadium. We got eliminated by Tottenham in the 2013 Europa League because of an away goal scored in extra time of the 2nd leg, and we got eliminated by Tottenham again by tiebreaker in the 2018-'19 group stage because they scored an away goal in a 2-1 L while we failed to score an away goal in a 1-0 L. We also had an away goal defeat against one of those Spanish teams in the mid-'00s (I don't feel like looking it up), also an away goal defeat in 2012 that was our last glimmer of hope before the banter era...the only time I can think of off the top where we advanced on away goals was the 2nd leg comeback in Munich in 2011.

The governing bodies for this sport are all fucking terrible but eliminating the away goals tiebreaker is one of the things they've actually gotten right in recent years.
We went to semifinals of CL in 2002/2003 when we lost to Valencia 2-1 at Mestalla, thanks to that Vieri away goal as we had won the home match 1-0 (thanks to Vieri goal).

Round of 16 is more and more boring after every years, 2 or 3 good matchups top per year.

Let’s see new format would change that
It'll be better actually.

9th to 24th will be playing each other, so the top 8 teams over 8 random games (weird system of course) will get byes.

In theory that means you will have, based on this season, teams like City, Bayern, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Arsenal receiving byes. Mentioning them since they cleared their groups the most.

And teams like Milan, Lens and Shakhtar that got close would definitely be in the next round to reach the last 16.

So while the last 16 itself may be similar, the filtration of who gets there would probably allow for better competition.

The problem of course is that the new system doesn't do anything to confront the "juggernaut" problem that creates disparity. That's what causes last 16 mismatches. Check 20-25 years ago and this wasn't a thing.

Unpopular opinin;

Leipzig will most likely do damage to Real Madrid tonight. The latter were quite lucky to escape with a win in the first leg. Unless they step up their game tonight, it's going to be very difficult IMO. Leipzig has nothing to lose, and I think they are aware of what went wrong in the first leg, so I think they will probably do better.

Ancelotti starting both Tchouameni and Camavinga along with Valverde, Kroos, and Bellingham (Rodrygo dropped)...is this a 4-2-3-1 I spy? I don't think I've seen Madrid like that all season. Interesting time to debut a new lineup and formation.

Vinicius pushing Will Orban to the floor, actually escaped a red card there imo. Lucky.

Too harsh for a red card, but yellow card is fine. Also just now, Toni Kroos escapes with a reckless tackle, no card for him lol

If we go by other accidents across Europe this warrants a red, but I agree - should only be a yellow, if it was fists the card should be red.

look at leipzig what chances are wasting. They will regret this
yup yup, just like Lazio. Inzaghi should take notes from yesterday's Lazio game and today's Leipzig's game. Atletico will push us and we will have counter attacks, if we dont realize like them its gonna be over.

Apparently they have woken up hehe
They were quite unlucky and also little bit incompetent to not score more. Missed some real good chances tbh.

Hopefully they push harder in these upcoming mins. This goal might boost their morale though.
