10 years of FIFin fairness, if you look at the state of many professional footballers of yesteryear, quite a few of them are in financial ruin or living on a meager incomes or some sort of social benefits. In any case being a obscenely paid athlete not as glamorous as it sounds, when you have money hungry agents, family members, school chums, ex-girls, parents hanging around you, pinching your earnings... and those expensive cars and homes don't take care of themselves. If you could command such a wage bill, fuck it why not, take care of yourself and your family, give to charity, build a soccer academy or hospital in a 3rd world country, pay your exuberant taxes.... there's much worse out there than money-grubbing footballers.
