How could the ball is in our court when we don't have a single dime to buy anything? The ball is entirely Chelsea's because they are the owner and they have the biggest motivation to boot him.
However, the situation is one of the most intricated relationship ever:
  1. Chelsea need to offload Lukaku, but they can't accept our extreme lowball offer.
  2. Inter is the obvious choice because both club and player are in accord, but see number 1.
  3. Lukaku only wants Inter and moving to milan means burning the only bridge he has now.
  4. Other clubs are disinterested because he doesn't worth the money especially for his salary.
  5. Saudi satisfies what Chelsea requires, but Lukaku is still reluctant.

1. They can. They are just still in the state of denial. And the fact is Lukaku's lost most of his value whether Chelsea like it or not.
2. Probably.
3. There are no bridges to be burnt, Milan are simply unattractive to Lukaku.
4. Absolutely.
5. No comment.

In short, Chelsea's got a Joao Mario situation with Lukaku. They will have to gradually absorb the cost i.e. loan him out until his contract expires.
It's still early, just give Chelsea time. If time is not enough, a few exclusive interviews and instagram posts will help sweeten their stance.

I forgot, did we ever had an offering for Joao Mario that the club accept but the player decline (before benfica transfer)?
And regarding Lukaku, does this mean we have to wait till the end of market before they accept defeat?? Because it will a waste of time and we just accept that Correa and Toro are our duet next season.

I still can't get over his performance in the CL-final. For that alone he should not be wearing the Inter colours again, as he'll keep reminding me of that final.
luluku has fucked up many times in the past, but that CL-final was one to many.

Why hasn't he been moved to former players yet?

Don't worry, they will accept even less at the last day of the mercato.

Honestly I’m surprised he’s not willing to give it another go at Chelsea under a new manager.

Chelsea isn't a fool like that. If anything, Inter probably go to chelsea with 20m loan fee or 40m direct purchase to lukaku by knowing marotta. but watch out of saudi clubs. They have unlimited money and unlimited salary over Marotta to persuade Lukaku at this time.

an known interista journalist asked marotta in privat about the lukaku situation, he's response was "tranquillo". Inter remains optimistic and thinks that Chelsea will give up, i think.
