Solid game tbh. He's never going to impress in the attacking phase so we should just accept that now.

Currently, he interprets the role much better than Perisic and presents less of a risk in defense.

He had a ball for Lukaku that was actually a good pass if he finished his run. Instead Lukaku stopped and expected Darmian to know he was going to sit in the middle of the 18 yard box.

Darmian was very good today. Obviously he's a very limited player but he played at the absolute extent of those limits and IMO one of the best on the pitch.

Of course, one good performance does not vindicate his very existence in this club - that is still a joke. He needs to keep buying goodwill for himself with performances like these and then we'll see.

Can he play as LWB? I have seen him as LCB, but havent really seen him on the left. If so, then he should be backup LWB/RWB, with perisic being the 7th.

I think he and Hakimi and Perisic came to replace Candreva and Moses, not to play as RCB?

He played some games as LWB under Conte at national team.

Yeah I remember that. And what does Lukaku? Spreading his arms wondering how the fuck Darmian didn't pass the ball to him where he decided to stay rather than where he was first running.

That's so goddamn irritating to watch in Lukaku's game. Like everyone would have to read his mind everytime, no matter how stupid decisions he might make at any given moment.

His performance against BM was pretty good. He was one of our better players. Compliments to him because he made his debut in the Champions League and has not been at the club for very long. Perhaps the most promising aspect of his debut is that there were a few occasions when he got into promising attacking positions and I feel that bodes well for the future.

Having said that, I think his challenge will be applying himself consistently at a high level. I do not like the fact that he is part of our squad and honestly speaking, I have huge issues with the likes of of Ashley Young and Kolarov. But if Darmian, when called upon, can play at the level that he did against BM or thereabouts, I will not be complaining.
