I would not pay for him, that`s for sure. At most swap with Dalbert/extend loan, however valuations were initially different... Big difference in what Inter payed for Dalbert vs what Fiorentina payed for Biraghi.

I wouldn't swap him for Dalbert either. The latter has had decent season so far and even if Fiorentina doesn't like to redeem him, we can insert him as a counterpart in another deal. Biraghi on the other hand is useless signing as we have Young for that spot and it's much better to bring a new quality player there instead to count to someone like Biraghi to fill up the gap.

There is contact with Fiorentina to renew the loans of both Biraghi and Dalbert.

Wonder where that leaves us with the wing back situation now that we've also extended Ashley Young. Don't want to be dreary but this seems like a reality now
At best Biraghi just helps with the club grown quotas and also serves as a backup.

Yeah. Would be also stupid to have 3 LWBs only because one of them is club trained. Biraghi as 2nd LWB would be fine as then the club trained status would bring some effect, releasing free spot to midfield/central defence.

Schira basically confirmed what Brehme said. Fiorentina reiterated to Dalbert agent they want to extend the loan for one more season and the same could happen for Biraghi at Inter.

I would try to sell Dalbert as he has had a good season at Fiorentina.

If Biraghi stays, I really hope we go for the 5 WBs route. New LWB and Biraghi on the left, new RWB and Candreva on the right, Young on both. Lazaro out, Asamoah out.

Decent rotation piece for Serie A/ Coppa. Nothing more than that. FBs/ WBs remain our handicap.

Might be blasphemy but...he was actually really good when he came on yesterday?

I'm pretty confident we're going to see Young, Biraghi, Candreva and Moses taking part in almost every match in this summer season. No one has the endurance to run for 90mins in that heat so better to divide the minutes more evenly.

He was good because we didn't ask him to defend at all. We just had him stand on the touchline and swing in crosses.

That's got to be the record for most crosses in the shortest amount of time.

We were focused on others after last night shitshow but it needs to be said he had a really good game. One of his best performances at Inter. I still think we need a starting left wingback. Biraghi isn't good enough to start for Inter against upper mid-table teams (let alone top teams).

Indeed, he had a good game and he seems to have improved a bit in general.

Earlier in the season, I would've picked Asamoah over Biraghi every day of the week but Asamoah seems to be fucking crocked with chronic knee injuries. Now, it's not not so clear whether we can rely on Asamoah going forward.

Mediocre though he may be, Biraghi seems to care about the shirt at the very least and puts in an earnest effort. He's also a club-trained player which is always helpful, plus his salary is far smaller than Asamoah's. We'll see how things play out in the remainder of the season but if I had to choose between the two, at this point I'm slightly leaning towards Biraghi over Asamoah.

Of course ideally, I'd rather see exactly zero of our current WB's faces ever again for the rest of my life. Realistically though, some, if not most of them, will be here next season :palm:

Isn’t he leaving (Asamoah) at the end of the season? I thought that was a given.

He has a contract till 2021. He's expected to leave but if we can't find a team willing to satisfy his wage demands then we need to compensate him to terminate his contract.

Go, just fucking go please. I can't stand watching you anymore. Oh God if you grant me one wish, get rid of Biraghi, put him far away from this team.
