We have just a week left to sign players. Things aren't looking good on the Modric case. Perez doesn't seem willing to let Modric go and even if he changes his mind it seems unlikely, at least in my eyes, he will accept our loan with option offer. I hope Ausilio has a backup plan for our midfield else the ending of this mercato will be extremely disappointing. It would a real shame as our mercato has been great so far.

It's also interesting that the Balde rumours popped up the day after Vidal was announced at Barca. Both would require a non-EU spot. Feels like there's a greater plan here.

Vidal's deal was completely unrelated from a Modric move.

I made a post before his name was out there (by Sky, because in Spain they did mention it in mid July) that we were after Vidal and the alleged Mr X that wasn't Vidal - or Rafinha for that matter - and that it'd be a crowd-pleasing name. Didn't and still don't care that people didn't believe that.
I've no clue where they wanted to put everyone in the lineup, but the plan was to sign both. What changed beats me, but maybe we saw another opportunity or there really was an issue with Vidal's kness or we really told him to wait a little bit before signing and he/his agent got pissed.

Our management level suddenly woke up one day and came to realization of Candreva's uselessness.

Don't blame them, not everyone is that quick, just look at the Candreva thread.

This is a delicate situation but all I’m going to say is if we go off history especially in recent times the desire of the player almost always ends up winning. Hopefully that’s the case again for this one

Perez doesn’t need to sell Modric. Why? Modric isn’t a player like Joao mario who will stir up drama and give half assed effort. He’s a professional playing for the most storied club in the world making a shit ton of money. If Perez refuses to sell, I highly doubt Modric will cause any issues within the team.

I can easily see Perez convincing him to stay one more year til he can find a proper replacement. Could I see Perez letting him go? Yes. But don’t be shocked if he just keeps him for another year instead of selling him last minute. We really should have just re-signed rafinha

Modric already missing the training, think he will no longer acting nice. Ifmadrid being stubborn he probably just freezed him out and wanting move at January. Its matter of principle a gentlement ageeement and Perez act cowardl like this wjile he let Ronaldo leave.

You guys are being homers. How would you feel if one of our best players tried to force his way out to a club that can't afford to buy him outright. It would be maddening. Forget gentlemen agreements - he has a contract.

With that being said, I think it would be VERY smart for Real to sell him. This is the last time they'll ever be able to cash out on him. I think if Perez's ego wasn't already hurt from losing Ronaldo, he would be more willing to let Modric go.

Real will still get a lot of money, they can't pretend that someone will offer more then 100M.

This players have won 4 CL in 5 years. We are speaking of something that never will happen again, something very rare. So you have to deal with it that this can cost you to loose players. At the end im not suprised if Real would loose all players. Consindering how much important trophies they have won it was predictable that this can happen.

Loosing someone like Modric that don't is hungry to win more trophies, is normal. Holding him would create a problem. Remember Inter 2011 and 2012.
