Only Napoli management can top ours: ‘Image rights stopped Klaassen to Napoli’

Everton manager Sam Allardyce confirms image rights prevented Davy Klaassen from joining Napoli.

The Partenopei had a deal in place to sign the attacking midfielder yesterday, but the deal collapsed.

While there was some speculation they hadn’t realised Klaassen was cup tied, it was immediately rumoured that a familiar problem with image rights was behind the failure.

“I got the weirdest situation,” Allardyce marvelled in a Press conference.

“A contract he has with a sporting company is one of the reasons why it failed. We are disappointed but he should be far more disappointed than us that he is not playing for Napoli in the Italian league.

“I don't know why they couldn't get over the hurdles.”

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis insists players hand over 100 per cent of their image rights to the club when they sign.

That means they must terminate all existing deals with sponsors, which takes time and can even cause deals to collapse.

Other clubs usually take just 50 per cent of a player’s image rights, allowing them to use the image in club promotional material as long as it doesn’t clash with other sponsorship deals.

For example, a club sponsored by Adidas could use a Nike athlete to advertise their new kit as long as other players are present and it’s only to promote the club.

According to Pedulla, Racing president denied there's an agreement with Inter about Martinez but Ausilio is going to Argentina to close the deal. The total cost of the operation will be over 20m (including agent commissions).

No, we apparently couldn't afford Javier Pastore, a player who for the last 7 years has (somewhat) reguarly played for one of the best clubs in the world and is (hypothetically) in the prime of his career age-wise. A operation costing 28 million was just too much for the management to swallow, for a player who I see as representing possibly the closest we in our current shape could get to a world class player.

Instead, let's go and blow a significant portion of that amount on an unproven, albeit interesting, young South American, with a big percentage of that fee going to an agent (ring a bell?), when we've got Mauro freaking Icardi playing in the same spot, and hyper talented kids like Pinamonti, Odgaard and Colidio waiting in the wings. It's literally the position where we, barring any significant changes, need to look the least for players. It's not as if we don't have at least 5-6-7 other positions we need to improve in or at least focus on.

We couldn't spend a dime in January partly thanks to the Gabigol transfer, and now we're doing the exact same fucking thing again.

The hell is wrong with this club?

Ausilio flies to Argentina for Lautaro Martinez. News on the contract: it will be a three-year contract with the option of renewal that can be exercised from the summer of 2019

Can Ausilio fly via China and get approval first?

What is the point of wasting everyone's time if Suning are just going to say no after the negotiations are completed.

I've made some homework and wrote this yesterday in the FAIL'd last day mercato thread:

I've been studying this L.Martinez boy...well YouTube vids mostly tbh(I don't watch Argie league lmao)
I can see his dribbling technique is amazing,he can beat players with great/sick even agility, and his smooth quickness on the ball is...joy to watch. He isn't a Messi but fuck...also he knows how to poach them goals
How he can leave defenders for dead with a qucik turn is impressive
Potential "crack" player
No stupid tricks a la Quaresma tbh that lead to nothing, not a GabiFail either

Now this is the bonus part...
He reminds me of Dybala but with another plus trait that the Rube kent doesn't have
Martinez has "grinta" durability and a lot of spirit for a 175cm kid. He has that hunger for every ball,
"Non mollare mai"/never give up attitude
Which would make him a great tactical asset as well

Fuck I'm hyped...

But the alarm part is that Argie league isn't on Serie A level although the tactical approach...is quite similar tbh

I think he would do well in Serie A
Maybe not from the start but in his second season...

We don't have such a pure/raw talented player in our midsts

If Icardi is leaving...he could very well be his replacement tho
If we fail CL is very very likely

but knowing Inter...anyone can go critical disaster at any minute...no one is immune to it...

Whole deal is further proof that the club is a means to launder money.

How many videos did Barbosa look amazing in? All of them. We probably didn't scout him if at all. Kia fucked us. Hope JZ did his proper homework instead of just chatting to his old buddy Milito.

Barbosa always looked like poor man Tevez who plays wide. Nothing special even on YouTube, also he was a starter on Olympics but never played something special. I always thought they scouted him before and that he's probably tactically brilliant because he's not showing any special skills on videos.

Ausilio and above all Sabatini wanted Pastore while Spalletti asked for Mkhitaryan. In fact Spalletti preferred Lobokta instead of Pastore as well as also Fabian Ruiz or Torreira”

Fabián Ruiz has signed a new deal with Real Beteis, his release clause being doubled to €30m.

They didn`t manage to sell Eder, but perhaps this isn`t the right moment for that.

I don`t think Lisandro Lopez is good - he came just for the numbers, like Sainsbury last season.. He will probably never even step on the pitch to wear our shirt. We could have BOUGHT Martín Cáceres for €600k, just like Lazio did. They offered him a risk-free, 6 months contract, with the option of another 2 years. So no injury risk on the club. At least he has Serie A experience and he can play in different positions at the back.

For those who still don`t get it: Candreva scored 0 goals in 22 matches this season, while Martín Cáceres scored 3 goals in 14 matches for Hellas fuckin` Verona :palm:

Rafinha deal is a good one, but they should have done more for Spalletti with regards to the attacking department. I think a loan for Deloufeu could have been easily done, but perhaps Spalletti did not want him? He seem to have wanted a DM, hence the Donsah links, but I prefer to wait until summer if we sign Lucas Torreira.

The feeling I get is that we went ALL IN on Pastore and did not have a backup plan.

» I hope they seriously prepare for the summer:

Bring in De Vrij for free and pay the release clause for Lucas Torreira.
Sell Eder, bring that Martinez guy if he`s the new crack.
And let`s sign a proper replacement for Candreva [Verdi?].

*sour grapes mode on*

Yes, I've been visualizing Pastore wearing an Inter shirt since the summer of 2009, when he still had to sign and play a single minute with Palermo, but I respect, trust and approve of the Chinese "silent transformations".

This was too much of a gamble, considering FPF.
Also, Pastore has his flaws. And those injuries, damn, and he's a bit of a "pecho frio" too.
No regrets.
