Finally glimpsed that the console is available!
I was going to get PS5 with Gran Turismo 7 but then I saw that it doesn't allow offline play. Major dealbreaker for me. Then I saw that it followed the other nonsense that sports games typically go for where you basically have to pay to get better stuff rather than simply grind through the game.
Add to the fact that most video games now need to be installed rather than just play directly from disc, which means that I have to wait for 1-2 hours after inserting a disc to play the game, you constantly need to delete installed games to make room for others - or forced to get some cloud service (which I don't mind overall, but here it's getting too much) - and then I watch 45 minute videos for every 25 minutes of gameplay... hard pass.
I haven't even played on a PS5 yet. My PS4 is home to dust and spiders but every now and then I may casually play something or pop in some movie from my bluray collection...
I'll stick to Nintendo Switch during my plane and train trips for now. Hopefully when they come up with PS6, they'll consider that there's a lot of people who don't like everything to be online and they're happy with base games as long as they're enjoyable.
Heck, I'm more likely to play some old SNES games on the actual console (I have the Switch collection) than I am likely to play one of the dozens of PS4 games I own but hardly played.
Feels like video games are for teens, college students and people who have an extremely flexible lifestyle who can spend several hours a day in front of a television with no one bothering them, face-to-face or via social media or telephone.
So if you can excuse the grandpa mode, convince me otherwise and I'm ready to pull the trigger and go ahead and buy it.
