By best I included the aspect of fitness and attitude and the availability of options to be that half. When we placed a back-up LB into position and forced a FB into a CM, I think we can't expect much. The team that was registered for Hajduk and Vaslui didn't give us a chance to rest our players tbh, but we got into the nerve and push the edge too much and it cost us. The loss against Hajduk and the draw against Vaslui was down to the inability to rotate players. We basically had Cambiasso and Guarin only for MF last night. However, in the begining of the game, we might play badly due to poor mf, however we still created few chances. To me, last night Coutinho-Palacio didn't really work out until the 70th minute for the goal.
I said this also included the consideration of mentality aspect. Our players did not start the second leg with the right attitude for both rounds which I felt quite disappointed for. We have to remember what Guarin said in an interview, playing in EL you have to be hungry and always want to win, because these small clubs you play against are playing the game of their life. They probably have the only chance to show their talents. We were too lazy in the beginning and lack of concentration. However, it showed in the second half last night, even without our best players like Milito and Sneijder or newcomers like Cassano and Gargano, we could actually beat them IF we have the urge to fight and to win the game which Guarin brought into the game.
So, I think the key is we have to find the right attitude first before we talk about what the team can or cannot actually do, because even Real Madrid and Barcelona will have hard times if they play half-heart.
