Unfortunately the 3rd qualifying round takes place a month before Serie A begins. Leagues like France, Netherlands, etc. will be almost underway and those teams will be much further along in their preseason preparations. Beating Lazio would have bought us another 3 weeks or so. Hopefully we draw the shittiest team possible.

According to the wiki here are the clubs that Inter could be drawn against in the 3rd qualifying round:

Liverpool, Hannover 96, Marseille, Maritimo, Dynamo Moscow, Arsenal Kyiv, Heerenveen, Besiktas, Genk, Dundee United, Hapoel Tel Aviv, Sigma Olomouc, one of either Bilbao or Levante (depends on CDR results), 3rd place team of Greek Superleague, 4th place team of Danish Superliga, 3rd place team of Romanian Liga I, winners of 2011-12 Austrian Cup... plus the clubs that make it past the second qualifying round.

Still some mysteries but that is what is known so far.

I don't think ranking matters, it's still the third qualifying round so you can get anyone who is also starting in that round... right? Or am I mistaken?

We can really get any team at this point.. either way we need to beat whoever we're paired with.

They break the teams into seeded and unseeded pots, so we likely won't get drawn a 'difficult' opponent.

In case anyone was interested, the Third Qualifying Round Draw will be held on July 20, 2012.

First Leg will take place on August 2nd and the Second Leg will take place on August 9th.
