If our aim was to win the trophy in the end, I would want a strong opponent right away but we are unlikely to get at least in the final ahead of teams like Real Madrid, ManCity, Bayern, PSG and ect. So, it would be financially great to go further as much as we can. Besides our players are lacking that knockout phase experience in this kind of level, so that would be another boost.

We would be likely to knock out teams like Tottenham, Porto, Chelsea or Benfica.

It is always hilarious to witness PSG's naivety in UCL. They have assembled a billion worth squad only to finish second in their group and now risking themselves against heavyweights. Their coaches can easily monitor Benfica's and instruct them to attack when the scoreline is dangerous, but no, let's relax against ravaged rube and only press to attack at the dying minute. Not complaining though, we are glad we won't meet PSG early.

Our next opponent tier is:

Nice: Benfica, Porto
Remember last year when we draw Ajax and some people still complained only to get Liverpool instead? Yes, Benfica and Porto are as easy as you can get in UCL knock out phase.

Okay and fated: Chelsea, Tottenham
Lukaku scoring winner at Stamford Bridge at dying minute and kissing our badge is like already written in the stars. Conte's terrible record at UCL also works in our favor. Be that as it may, both Chelsea and Tottenham are strong teams and the matches will not be as easy against Portugal duo.

Yikes: Madrid, City
We most likely meet our end here.

With our luck it will be Real or City. Meanwhile, Milan will get Benfica, Porto or Tottenham.

Honestly, I dont mind Real. I know their ability to nick a win out of nowhere in CL is almost mystical, but other than that, they are not that dominating.

I really don't want City though as they are systemically dominant and individually strong yet they have almost no followings due to their short history as a top club. Vs historical clubs we will at least get a lot of attention.

I think City would be very similar to the Bayern games - just an incredibly obvious gulf in quality. Could get embarassing.

I'm happy with whatever else to be honest, we're not winning the thing so getting through with an easier team would be nice just for the money.

Lets be real. It would be great to avoid the big teams (Man City, Madrid, PSG, Chelsea). We do not have a great team at all and we are not performing great either. The further we progress, more money we would get and that is way too important.

Not saying that we will have an easy time against the likes of Benfica (got further ahead of PSG), Spurs but at least we might have a better chance to progress.

Knowing our luck, it could of course be one of Man City, Madrid or PSG but still fingers crossed.

Our easiest opponent would be Tottenham. Benfica is tougher than many people think.

Yea I actually think PSG might be even easier than Benfica, given their intensity of pressing with Neymar and Messi up front.
They look good on paper, but their play style is quite countered by ours, we can quite freely build from the back, and on our good days the defense should be good enough.

P.S. knocking Conte out would be pretty fun and funny.

If we draw Benfica, you know Joao Mario is scoring a penalty against us.

And then Sporting will successfully sue us for 30M because we terminated his contract.

But psg is easier than madrid despite having more individualities. madrid as a defensive block is the best in europe.

I really don't want Real. I can already predict how the two matches would look against them. We will look somewhat decent, we will make some chances (and miss them) and then we will concede 1-2 goals without Real looking too dangerous and we will scratch our heads wondering how tf we got eliminated with two losses.
