I think that's happening because the footballers today are not so smart. I mean, they are used to play in some system, and once the balance is shifted (taking out forward for CB), this system cannot function properly anymore. Without a forward, the team usually doesn't have an idea how to move the ball up on the pitch, therefore they lose it quickly, and the goal is just a matter of time.
