My point isn't that there's no financial upside. My point is, why do CONCACAF and CONMEBOL have to merge for this to happen? As crzd mentions, Colombia already play friendlies in the US despite being in a separate confederation. I'm sure other South American nations can do so if they want, merger or no merger.
Competitive games are much more valuable than friendlies. More media exposure, more sponsors, more eyes, more money, more spots, bigger TV audience. Seems like a pretty good package for both sides.

US and Mexico not qualifying could cause a lot of money to be lost by FIFA

One didn’t make it and the other almost didn’t last time........

Could be very possible neither will make it to multiple cups at a time. But at the same time. I think both US and Mexico kind of fk around until the end when it is too late because the other teams in Concacaf sucked

The most necessary thing that needs to merge is Copa America.. the other ones dont matter too much.. CONCACAF and CONMEBOL could retain their current status at national qualifiers and club competitions.. but Copa America with just 10 teams and that invitees bullshit isnt attractive at all..

Idk about merging CONCACAF and CONMEBOL, but I'm definitely in favor of bringing back the Mexican teams into the Copa Libertadores. Not only will it increase the competitiveness(at best the Libertadores has become a Brazil-Argentina Cup w/ intruders, and at worst it has become an glorified Copa do Brasil), but it will also bring more investments into the competition. I am also in favor to bring MLS teams into the Libertadores.

I'm on board, just for the memes about US teams in a tournament called Libertadores
