I have not attended a match for a long time and don't know how the security checks are on the gate.

Did they require a passport? If yes, the passport is digitally checked, or just the name must be same as in the ticket.
Or just a scanning digital ticket QR code?

The ID is manually checked when entering the gate
I guess it depends how seriously he takes his job and whether would care or not to actually make sure that the name is the same

It should be easy. Sign up to receive notifications when they go on sale. The most expensive tickets sell out last, which bodes well for you.

Last time I bought tickets they required 2FA through a text to my cell. The text would not go through. I downloaded some burner number app, used a free trial to get an Italian number, and bought the tickets that way. Not saying it will happen to you, but we both have American cell numbers, so worth mentioning.

Try checking out a game in Florence if you can't get to Milan. Half the distance, might be easier to work with.

I gather you've already arrived in Milano? As did I, during the semi-finals against Milan two years ago.

I didn't personally go the stadium - ended up seeing it at a big screen event with @CafeCordoba , which was great in itself - but if you want to take the chance like @abs, go to the ticket office on the day of and try your luck;

I don't know why they wouldn't also have tickets at the office ticket when they did for a Derby della Madonnina Champions League semi-final, but who knows.
