Why is this news?

I thought we knew this since the Oaktree deal?

Does this imply we will be debt free right? If so lol at reports we may not get transfer budget

Oaktree has already prepared an official statement to communicate the change in ownership of #Inter to be released on Wednesday.

I apologize if this has already been discussed, but what was Steven's plan for repaying the money?

I find it hard to believe that someone like Steven would leave the future of his club to chance. This is the part I can't wrap my head around.

He secures a loan, sets a repayment date, and agrees on an interest rate - then what? Did he just forget about it?

What was his plan for repaying the loan if everything went according to plan? Did he have a clear scenario in mind?

1. Did he always know that he wouldn't be able to repay it (which seems unlikely)?

2. Was he hoping that he could secure another loan to cover the original one, but with a higher interest rate (also seems unlikely)?

3. Was he misled by another bank into thinking they would provide a loan, only for them to back out at the last minute?

It seems like the only reason Oaktree agreed to the loan is they did their homework, saw that he wont be able to pay, and in the end they would end up owning a ~$1b football club.

A simple and stupid example: If I were to take out a business loan, I would certainly have a plan for repayment, especially if my house was at risk.

This is the part I find difficult to understand. It's not about having a Plan B; I can't grasp what Plan A was in this situation.

Iit seems like to get another loan to cover the old one. But Pimco backed out. We can speculate why Pimco backed out, but they did.

Plan A was probably to find a buyer who meets Zhang's expectation. That didn't happen. There were buyers along the way but Zhang wanted more than what they were willing to pay.

The valuation set allegedly was met. But then the asking price kept rising when the initial one was met.

I know you're trying to be cute, but everything else he did as a president was practically flawless. So, it's not like we're talking about some impulsive guy who at half time went to the locker room and picked the subs and the tactics.

For such a short time and with so much limitations, he did wonders.

He did jack shit apart from deliver news from China, sit in conference rooms and play with his pocket money.

Guy made a life in Milano, surely, but he had almost no influence over anything. You think he did the Oaktree loan? He probably is finding out about the important details this weekend...

Yeah. And I kind of get it because Inter's valuation has gone up during this 3 year period. But still, they are probably not getting as much to their pocket now compared to selling earlier.

I can already see where this conversation is heading. And I'm definetly not gonna entertain that.

That's not my point. We've already discussed this in the forum. Some people believe the president deserves the most credit, others think it's the coach, some say it's the player who scored the goals, and others argue it's the fans with their choreography.

I asked my question and explained what I don't understand. That's it.

Honestly, I think it was a few things:

1 - bringing financial health back to Inter faster than expected, providing some money to start paying down the loan
2 - from there, being in a stronger position to refinance
3 - potentially looking at a minority investor
4 - refinancing the loan
5 - Suning.com to recover - the loan was granted, I THINK? - before the retialer had to force zhangs to sell off some stakes to recover? You have to remember, they're still down 86% on 5 year basis... they probably expected COVID to be an interim thing, and after that, rich again.

I think he had options, but for whatever reason they didnt really pan out as expected

Oaktree will come and nothing major will change, imo. Maybe one or two people from oaktree will enter the club board and that's it. They will not dismantle something that works fine, and they want to sell. We will be under their ownership for a few months, maybe even a year, before they decide to sell.

Doubt our mercato will be affected as well coz on that front we won all the trophies despite zhang not because of him. Yes, he brought and kept competent people, but those people had to work under severe restrictions because of his loans.

Imo that's why there isn't much excitement or worries, especially shorterm hence everybody from inter mngmt even in the last night celebrations looking pretty calm even in their statements. I think they know, despite the love they are showing to zhang, it's time to say goodbye.

Long term could be tricky, i m hoping for some sugar daddies or saudis, that's the easiest and maybe only way inter can be competent on the highest level from a country like italy and the league like seria a. The other way is for the future owners to find another miracle worker like marotta, but those people are rare as fuck.
What about Barella and Lautaro extensions?

Saudis who shit ob people rights as owners? No thanks

Do you credit Thohir for hiring Spalletti and reaching the Champions League? He was president until the start of 2018-19 season after all.

Oh, and do you have any idea what baby Zhang's Hong Kong's troubles are all about? He better fuck off if he's going to become a convict. I don't want that stain on my club.

I don't know who was behind that. There's a ton of shitty marketing decisions out there in the world now...

1) Club's logo should have never been changed to this abonimation.
2) This "I M" shit also needs to go
3) We need to gain international appeal in a more organic way rather than abolish everything and announce ourselves in broken English. Get Spanish speaking marketing people and so on. This globalized effect is just cringe.
4) Social media needs to be much more present and active. We have way too few followers given our actual fanbase. There was improvement here as we were non-existent, but we need more work. And less nonsense.

Guys, no need to worry. Oak Tree will be OK as temporary owners. Whoever buys the club will be Ok too. Best bit of news that I've read today is Don Beppe saying he's considering staying past 2027. Wouldn't that be something?
