a water damn broke in the town. Pretty much wiped out the roads. It was a rural area and they got a crap ton of rain. I think Insurance will have to pay they just are rejecting the first time. They will be sued. It's not like it happened to 1 person it happened to like in multiple towns.

Infrastructure in the US is really really really bad. Instead of fixing ours we fix other countries to be the "Avengers" of the World. I lived in Boston as well and when it would rain heavily the sewers would spit water out it was disgusting.

when I lived in Brooklyn heavy rain would a lot of the time cause water to come into the subway. So you are underground and it's raining. Also you see rats surfing which is beyond gross :)
On that note, I'm going to Boston and New Hampshire next month. Give some restaurants recommendations.

Mikes Pastrys in Little Italy but they have it in Cambridge near Harvard. Best canollis, haven't lived there in a long time. Mama Maria in little Italy still there and great. I just hate driving there so take the Train. Use Open table app because there is always a reservation and they are like no seating for today but I use the app and get a table in like 5 minutes.

I did have our wedding anniversary dinner at this place called Moo. Super expensive steak house...... not great.... or at least not worth $250 for 2 steaks haha.

New Hampshire ... not a fan of it tho no taxes :) I use to drive there when I would buy bigger stuff. Drive farther and go to Portland Maine, ton of great places there.

I was obviously joking.

Eating out is always nicer. No need to worry about preparing a meal or cleaning up. That's like 80% of the whole ordeal, and if you're at home it takes less time to eat so it can become a chore if you do it all the time.

Problem with eating out as an outsider is that you have no clue what to expect and the new social media frenzy of filtering stuff out (or word of mouth) I believe is counter productive to a degree as everyone tells you to go to this place and/or have this dish. So less people will be trying out new stuff from social circles.

I like to scout places if there's a great range of options, but obviously if I'm on some island with 3 great options and 10 casual ones and I have 3 evenings, I'm going to all three of those and maybe grabbing lunch from a nice more casual spot if I'm not at the beach.
But generally I avoid restaurants for lunch when traveling in Europe. I prefer those do it all places, even if it can be hit or miss with food quality.

In the US they want 20-25% tips.... so we do not go out haha. My wife is a great cook and in the summer I just grill steaks and fish outside. I do so in the winter as well but use my proprane grill instead of the charcoal one. Charcoal taste so much better

also with little kids now its not like they really appreciate something nice. They want Mac and cheese or chicken nuggets. I can make 3 months worth of Mac and Cheese for an army using actual cheese not that plastic crap they feed us for the price of what a restaurant charges us.

Also in the US there is a big thing going on. The waiters are getting F'd they make $2.45/hour but they want minimum wage now + tips. Restaurants saying they all go under if that happens. Waiters are like na I want $15-20/hour + 20-25% of the bill as a tip still.

Like fk you guys !! I am not tipping if you guys get paid minimum wage unless you do a good job. Now I just feel bad that you're making slave wages so shamed into giving 20% (even then they look at you like your cheap)

In Canada they want tips at Coffee shop/bbt shop. Lmao

These whole mandatory tipping is dumb af, they all get paid min wage here in Canada, not like their wage is lower so they need to make it up in tips. The store clerk who helps me get my shoe size don't get tips, why should they get tips? Ridiculous.

In Paris, tips aren't expected. Gimme more of that.

In Greece I tend to give tips, so I know what the US guys are saying with the guilt trips. If I pay cash for a €8.20 bill (let's say 2 coffees worth) I'll just give them a €10 note and say goodbye.
And in fancy restaurants I typically left ~10% tip.

But in recent years they're shoving us a POS with 15%, 20% or 25% as default options and I'm like fuck off. Some have 10-20% options but still. You go custom tip and give them €5 and they'll still say thanks :D Unless it's Mykonos, they'll give you the bad eye for anything under 15% of whatever overpriced items you enjoyed.

The only time i was guilt tripped to give a tip was at a restaurant in London. They brought me that POS with percentage tip that Brehme mentions. In Greece i don't really care. I usually give a tip but if i am not satisfied with service i don't give a fuck about their body language or their tricks to get one.

Of course there was also that incident in Italy where waiter preferred a good review on Trip Advisor over a tip

I hate it when companies do that. They have decided to go with an internal candidate even before publishing job ad but they conduct interviews just to follow procedure. In reality they just waste people time.

Good luck finding a job that meets your ambitions mate.

Worst is when they don’t let me promote person I want to make it “fair” open it to other candidates internal and external. They have to interview with people who they will never talk to or work with.

Those people give me input on who to pick and I literally have to tell them even if the person you say is better can cure cancer which isn’t what we do. It’s going to take them 6 months to a year to be helpful. Person In my team is already doing the job and should be payed more to do it

Hiring this new person who walks on water and stopped the Israel/palistine conflict in your 30 minute conversation will just make my choice quit and maybe more people on my team quit

I had some a hole try to steal my employee to bring over to his team but didn’t think she was good enough to be promoted on mine haha

They have to post a job ads, then submit to department of labor saying no American candidate be able to do or qualify this job, so they need to hire foreign labor, it will be their current employee.

It's pretty much the same in Europe. You sort of have to advertise a job opening.

We call that LMIA here in Canada. Lots of people are exploiting that, people illegally pay for scummy companies to hire them via LMIA so they can immigrate here "legaly".
