Not too happy about this. As I explained earlier, it's still understandable renewal. They just don't want to blow the defence wide open, so they want to go for only one replacement in one summer (Skriniar's). Also we need to get a backup for Bastoni.
It's the lazy and easy route. Understandable because we know how our management especially beppe operates. Still the wrong decision.

We don't have any money to spend on new defenders so they keeping a hold on to the old ones.
But why 4 mln net? We could get Smalling for free for less salary and he is better than this SDV?
The only reason which comes in my mind is that Conte is already agreed for next season and he requires De Vrij. There is no other logical explanation.

Indeed De Vrij absolutely requires 3 man defence. Otherwise doesn't make any sense.

Inzaghi's chaotic football doesn't suit to De Vrij who's not fast enough.

De Vrij was beyond fine under Inzaghi at Lazio. Top 3 CB in the league.

De Vrij's issues aren't tactical, they're mental. He's been screwed up and no one is trying to unscrew him. Giving him a contract here isn't some cure, too late now.

So far, Inter has spent purportedly 9M of their summer transfer budget, on ancient and mentally fragile players, that are very slow to boot. Betcha the trend continues with another old, slow and mentally fragile player for 2 yrs at 4M. The first hint will be an notable increase in the handicap parking areas especially in the training center. Good thing the kits are black and blue to cover up the perpetual bruises. :palm:

Yeah, that'd be win-win for both sides.

Apparently he is still 31, really thought he is 36 with the body shape.

3.8m for a guy who got benched by Acerbi. Good decision.

why does Inter never learn?
Because it's run by the same group with the same mindset.

Let's offer 4m to De Vrij and 5m to Dzeko for the combined 5 good matches next matches and then use those 5 matches as evidence that we made the right decision to keep wasting money on these corpses.
