Valverde has been Real best player so far this season. It would make no sense to remove him from midfield to cover rb.

He and Camavinga are basically their Swiss army knives over there, and it seems like Valverde can slot into any role and perform.

Vazquez will be their primary RB to begin with, but Valverde and Militão will definitely get appearances over there. Pérez doesn't make winter signings. Flat out doesn't do it. They only had two CBs in the entire squad last January (eventually had to adapt to using Tchouaméni and sometimes Carvajal as CB's) and said "...nah". Hell or high water, Pérez is going to force Ancelotti to make it work with the tools already at his disposal. (And considering how Ancelotti doesn't use the academy, unlike Zidane before him who was more willing, don't expect academy products to breakout into key roles like Cubarsí did with Barcelona last year. Madrid's academy is mostly crap anyway.)

In the end, Real Madrid will get Hakimi back.

Already regreting not getting a sub for Toni Kroos. I know its hard to find it, but even if it's a downgrade they should have done it. Too much players up front but not a creative mid, as i see Valverde and Bellingham as offensive box-to-box who can play on the wing, so that leaves only Modric who is already 40, Camavinga (always injured) and Ceballos who is shit.

Madrid is playing much worse than last year, and the same goes for Atletico even having better players this year, we can't see in the field.
All the opposite for Flick's team. This shows how poor Xavi as a coach, nobody wants that crybaby loser now, always looking for excuses. Players like Rapinha or Pedri already said how bad the trainings were etc...

Yes. I wrote this last January somewhere else and shared it on FIF in March.

It's probably something Madrid will need, because if there is only one concern I have about their midfield moving forward - I stress "one" concern - it's that these guys might be very dynamic two-way players who can swap positions as needed, but I don't think any of these guys (except for Jude probably) have the same kind of creativity and passing range ability that Luka and Toni have. Those two are simply magical, able to see plays before they happen, and then execute the perfect pass to get the ball where it needs to get to. Their football IQs are insane. Jude is a sponge for this shit, I feel like he's going to absorb every last bit of information he can while those two are still around, but among the midfielders who have regularly played for Madrid this year, Fede's a tank and good at bringing the ball upfield but I don't often see him playing the switches, Camavinga a fantastic ball-winner and keeps tight gaps on players but in attack pretty much only uses his right foot for running which leaves him a bit one-dimensional (he did at least try a thru ball today [ed. note - this refers to the Atleti/Real CdR game] that nearly came off well, to his credit)...Güler seems to have that creative mind but he's extremely green still and low on the pecking order.

Probably explains why there's been vague links with Wirtz for some time now. Figuring out the fit is another matter in itself but they're awfully dependent on a 39 year old Luka Modric who, per Transfermarkt, is on pace to play some 400 more La Liga minutes this year than he did last year. My comment was in response to a post @thatdude wrote that similarly expressed concerns about Madrid's creativity once Kroos and Modric moved on.

In spite of all that, I'm not sure this has been their biggest problem, at least as of yet. Mbappé hasn't really gotten himself going yet (four goals from open play so far) and they're dealing with a lot of injuries. Bellingham's shoulder is barking again and he's still doing a lot of the dirty work but the goal scoring dried up after December of last year (he was scoring at an unsustainable rate as it was so it's understandable). They literally only have two functional center backs and a makeshift CB in Tchou in the entire squad. And now Carvajal's season is over. The sledding looks to be getting awfully rough over there.

Barcelona's appeal against a 500,000 euros ($543,150.00) fine by UEFA for breaches of Financial Fair Play regulations has been dismissed, the Court of Arbitration for Sport said on Friday.

Barca went to sport's highest court in January to contest the decision made by European soccer governing body UEFA's Club Financial Control Body last year to reject an earlier appeal.

The Catalan club was fined by UEFA for wrongly reporting profits on disposal of intangible assets in 2022.

The CAS panel noted that both parties presented extensive arguments regarding the proportionality of the fine.

The panel found it unnecessary to address every claim made, saying, "in the specific circumstances of this case, a fine of 500,000 euros is actually rather mild."

It added that a lower fine "would likely not be a sufficiently strong deterrent to prevent a major club like FC Barcelona from intentionally misreporting income with a major impact on its break-even results."

Should be fined more to deter it. If this was Inter, it'd be in the millions.

Watching El Magnifico and laughing my ass out how shitty both defenses are. There`s like 22 Pulisic slaloming through on goal, nobody stopping.

Hansi have smashed 2 UCL favorites in 1 week. I think high line defense can be your doom in UCL , so you'll never know, but Barca entered the discussions tonight.

There is nothing beyond Barcelona's reach. The only thing that might hold them back in the CL knockout stage is the inexperience of a lot of their players, but they are quite probably the most talented team in Europe and clearly well coached as well. They are levels clear of this Madrid side, if it wasn't obvious yet just from watching them play separately this season, it's been laid abundantly clear today. This Madrid side is absolute trash.

It's funny, Pérez sought Mbappé for so many years, and it turns out this was one hell of a monkey paw curl.
