Seems like we're not the only club changing coaches days before the season starts...sucks for Soriano and Sansone

Marcelino has shocked Villarreal by leaving the club just days before the start of the new Liga campaign.

The coach had been in charge of the Yellow Submarine since 2013 and guided them to fourth place and Champions League qualification last season.

But Villarreal revealed on Wednesday that the 50-year-old has vacated his post with immediate effect.

"Marcelino Garcia Toral has ceased to be the Villarreal coach," a short statement published on the club's website confirmed.

"The club would like to thank the coach, his assistant, Ruben Uria, and fitness trainer Ismael Fernandez for their work over these three and a half seasons on the Yellow bench, where they have managed success such as the return to the Primera Division, European qualification in La Liga, Europa League and Copa del Rey semi-finals and fourth place last season to make the Champions League play-off.

"Villarreal wish Marcelino the best of luck in his sporting career. In the near future the interim or permanent replacement will be announced."

Damn...marcelino was on my "list" of coaches for Inter. Fuck.

Not that Inter management would've tried to sign him but nevertheless.

That's why I'm saying "fuck". I didn't know there were issues within Villareal that he might be available. Regardless, Inter management would've never gone for him.

Not that I want to get rid of FDB now for Marcelino.

That's a big loss for Villarreal and not just because of the timing. Any word on who will replace him?

They are trying to get Pellegrini if they can't then look for a young coach from Spain. At least that the rumor I saw.

Fran Escriba. He was coaching Getafe last year.

Yeah, we wouldn't have got him anyway, he's not Kia Joorabchian's client.

That Asensio kid is the real deal, only 20 years old too.

One of Isco or James might leave IMO.
