I’m in favor of trying a 3412 thing with Brozovic and Calha as pivots and Barella in front of them. I know we tried something similar under Conte and it failed miserably, but I also don’t think we had the right mentality/ personality to play like that at the time.

*Theoretically* as long as one of the pivots is always in position to be able to defend, we should have decent coverage through the middle anyway. The bigger concern is on the wings. We don’t have enough pace and then we over commit out wide and it leaves us totally exposed. I’m not really sure what the answer is there other than to improve tactics/ communication and to stay more compact as a defensive unit in general.

Inzaghi needs to fix the set pieces defense and should be the number one priority. Inter can't do anything about pace on the wings unless Bellanova starts, then we'll worry about his defense and the " youthful mistakes". Additionally, these cheap and dangerous giveaways in the midfield by Barella, Mkhitaryan, Hakan among others have to be reduced, at times it seems they are telegraphing their passes to the opposition in Inter's own half.

Saw someone say on Twitter that he has basically the whole backline available for the duration of the break: Skriniar, Acerbi, Bastoni, Dimarco, Gosens, Darmian, Bellanova. Missing Dumfries and De Vrij.

Means he has a LOT of time to fix this disastrous defending we've been seeing.

Exactly. Sort out the amount of goals we are conceding. (Far too many up to now.) And we really can guarantee doing something. Feels as though we have got away with it a bit when you look at the table.

I agree in principle, but I still feel like the issue is more how the team is set up vs. “fixing the back line.” Everyone on the pitch has to be involved in defending.

We are too slow to play stylistically like we did under Conte on a regular basis. Hakimi, Perisic, and Lukaku were the three fastest players on that team, and they're all gone.
Is this why we are conceding a lot too?

I don't even know what else he can do tbh. He's not a psychologist. Our supposed star #9 is fucking shit. Half our defence has no brain.

Only issue is his fetish with Gags.

Going to give props to him and his staff for their strategy vs Napoli today. Especially on the defensive set-up.
This manager can coach PSG in the French league and he still wouldn't win the league

These 2 posts are coming right after another.

Can't describe this coach better tbh.

Both Barella and Hakan were injured, we have no options left besides fucking Gagliardini. Still, I'd rather try to play a random Primavera player instead of useless Gag.

Don't have one.
Yeah, you can always point to our shitty owner and say there is an excuse, and truth be told he insists on playing attractive football, but when you strip all of that down, there is close to zero substance there in terms of real coaching ability.

You just can't have my respect if you allow that shitshow in defense.

I really don't know what to think honestly. An excellent preparation for Napoli then today's result. It's not all on him entirely, both Dzeko and Lukaku were awful today. None of the subs worked and one was extremely poor. Hell, only Onana and Skriniar saved it from being a loss IMHO. This squad is going to need luck and help to keep a CL spot
