7/10, I think.
If he'd been given a normal transfer window (not even a good one, just one where the team wasn't dismantled) then it'd be lower but considering the circumstances and the expectations that we originally had at the start of the year, he did pretty good.
I hope the successes of this season allow him to be a bit more demanding of the club's governance and not meekly accept the sales of Bastoni/Lautaro/Barella/Skriniar, but I know that's a long shot.
Pros:
+ Some of the best football I've ever seen Inter play.
+ Coppa Italia
+ Supercoppa
+ Ro16 UCL, with two good performances against one of the top 3 teams in the world and potential UCL winner.
+ In the scudetto race until the very end, which, to be fair, was what I asked of him at the start of the year.
+ Slapped up Juve repeatedly.
+ Got unbelievable performances out of Bastoni, Brozovic, Perisic, Hakan, Skriniar, and managed to resuscitate the corpse of Dzeko for a short time.
+ Still super young for a coach, and I think he'll do better next year.
Cons:
- Failed to transmit the necessary mentality to the players at key moments.
- Subs were questionable, to say the least, throughout the campaign.
- God, that fucking derby and that fucking Bologna game.
- Dzeko - Lautaro honestly kept me up at night.
- It is not a war crime to keep a carded player on the pitch Simone.
- Honestly, it seems like he struggles to keep his cool/direct his emotions in an appropriate manner pitchside, which then affects the players.
- Real difficulties in grinding games out - if we weren't firing at 100% physically or mentally, we were SHIT.
- Completely failed to find an alternative to Brozovic when he was injured, but that's also on the management for not supplying him with a decent sub.
- Correa, what a fucking waste of money.
All in all, a real mixed bag. If they decide to extend him, I hope it's just for an extra year - needs to show he can win the Scudetto before we commit to him long-term.
