We've had Atalantas tickets punched for like five seasons now...

Also in what world does complacency mean you lose every game? Don't be ridiculous.

My point is just even today and yesterday there's a big focus on the bonus that we can get for the treble. A few weeks ago, people including the players and Inzaghi were talking about the treble and quadruple. Was it the press recently who were like wow this Inter team are doing better than Mourinhos team (because we had like one more point at the same point in the season)

Cnon, there's a lot of treble noise without any justification really. One match at a time.
No justification except for still being in the running for all three in late march....
Also imagine if our players said no way will win the treble would we not call that a looser mentality?

Treble? We got raped by Fiorentina 3:0 last month. we lost to fucking juventus and you can’t even call them a legit team nowadays . we barely survived fucking Monza three weeks ago. Whoever is dreaming about our treble give me your dealers number
Tell me you dont remember us losing to jube, 3:1 to fucking catania, drawing and losing against roma who finished 2nd and almost fucking up against chievo on the second last game day in our treble season without trlling me

Sometimes I feel like sports are really not for some people, like they don't even understand the beauty and passion of it; like it is almost they should pick another business for cold hard evaluation hobby.

I wonder if @.h. , you think the most essential thing in sports that makes this no value thing so valuable is the financial statements and projection of business performance?

eh, you completely misunderstand my point.

My point isnt we wont win the treble. Not at all. I really fucking hope we do. My point is we lose our eye on the ball if we start even talking about it now. Focus on one set of matches at the time. Lets get past Bayern.

I dont even remember people getting excited about the treble until MUCH later in the season when we actually did win it. We need the focus to come across the challenges in front of us, rather than focusing on a bigger prize that causes us to lose focus.

This is classic fucking Inter over the last 25 years, btw, where we have a little bit of a good run, assume we're gonna go all the way, then fuck it up. Our best ever season also coincided with tough fucking opponents (in Chelsea & Barca) that no one was just assuming we'd get past. We played those games with sheer focus and determination, and got great results for it.

Our players, and our coach, SHOULD be in the press saying one match at a time. That's what Mourinho would have done. Can you imagine how he'd fucking react to this approach and attitude now? He'd probably discipline the motherfuckers for being that distracted. Of course privately very excited - lets not forget he texted Materazzi in the SFs saying we'd beat Bayern 2-0 in the finals. But he would NEVER have let the team get publicly excited or distracted by it.

I like your response, my bad. It feels like you are a real fan now.

I think the biggest difference between us and Jose's year is we had too much pressure back then and we needed to take it off, this time we are a bit of an underdog, and we have to tell ourselves we can do it and often times this is the difference between achieving it or not.

Taking about it can be a distraction, but also can be a motivation.

Also not to mention, some players are quite selective on when they want to perform, this could also help them understand all games are important.

Eyes on the trophies. Eye of the tiger.

Thank you, I appreciate that response more than you'll realise.

Anyway, I do get your point as well. It just makes me nervous in this season where, every time we've had a chance to go top (etc) of our own cognition, we've fucked it up. It feels like these guys get excited and distracted, rather than focused and motivated. I love the football this team can play, when they're in the zone. But we seem to really struggle with getting into the zone lately. I DO REALLY hope that now we're top, +3 points, etc, that maybe that has changed, and we buck the trend of the season, but I'm just a bit pessimistic. If it was last season I'd be like fuck it yeah we can do it for sure, but right now... its a bit more of a tightrope.

It also is a real throw back to like, early 2000s Inter for me, where every time we had a half decent run of form for like 5 games in Jan/etc we'd be like WE ARE GONNA WIN SHITLOADS.

I think probably partly due to the disillusion of losing to Liverpool and United in two consecutive CL years in the R16 drove not getting too excited about Chelsea, and then Mourinho pulled that out of the bag.

I really hope we clean up this year. But I want our guys to focus getting past Bayern first, not assuming they'll do it and half thinking about Barca or PSG or Real.

I am glad you feel the same for this part; I remembered commenting this Inter reminds me a bit of the early 2000s; people don't get it, and claim we had tons of money and individual's brilliancy and we don't now, I am like yea, but it is the vibe, that we are strong and we seems strong but something is not stable, and I don't know what (Pazza Inter maybe?). I wasn't referring to our spending power.

Having said that, there are also some nuances that makes me believe we are better than we were.

Obviously, the feeling is very different than 2010, but doesn't mean we cannot achieve what we achieved back then.

I get your point too, these MF players need to get their shit together; regardless what the cause is for when they turn off.

I am hopeful though.

What’s important for any venture in the market economy without out state support is to be financially sustainable. If inter as an organization fails financially tomorrow there will be no team for fans to cheer on

First of I am not advocating for spending till we are bankrupt; but even Fiorentina came back.
Second, it is one thing to check the financial status, understanding our expectation for spending and hope the club stays healthy and another thing to purely focus on it or even tailor our personnel usage to maximize profit, and neglect the spirit of the sport.

Basically all I am saying is as fan I do not wish to see my club to run the old Arsenal's Business Model which is purely for extracting the highest profit margin out of it, but I am also not asking us to be the old 90s Serie A stupid spending team.

We beat Atalanta away and people suddenly think we can beat Barcelona or Psg.

There is no perfect team this season. Our bench lacks firepower, but otherwise we are strong enough at least in defence that can cause trouble for any team left in CL.

Nobody says it would be easy, but not thinking they couldn't beat these teams just because of Fiorentina loss is kinda silly. At least Bayern is for sure same level as our team.

Don't have one.
I think we still don't have objective quality players wise to win a treble, especially cl, but looking purely at the results and our form and concluding from that we don't have a chance is the wrong way to do it imo.

If some of you fucks were teleported to 2009/10 season and had similar type of views of not winning it based on individual results, you would be saying the same things, and we all know how it ended up. People tend to forget how much we struggled that season and the grind we put in for that treble.

If we did win the treble this year it would be the flukiest treble ever. I would be crazy proud, of course, extatic, but amused as fuck

That being said, this is a very competitive and serious team, a reasonably well run club, way better imo than the treble Inter.

We could beat both of those teams even if we had lost to atalanta....

Hard to imagine that it s a fluke when you win all three competitions.......
Why the fuck do inter fans love to belittle their own club?

Well, I thought Chelsea would massacre us, even after we won first game. After win vs Barca in first game, that was the moment I started to believe. Lets beat Bayern first then do the talk.

Over the season we've been experiencing issues we are all aware of, so we don't really feel like a treble winning team imo. I was mainly making fun of that.

i think even our previous treble team wasn't rated that highly either. i'm sure bookies didn't even have us in top 5 likely to win that year. it was only after hindsight and what we did, now people remember it as a great team. again yeah i think this bayern games are key, we'll really gain momentum to do something crazy if we win that

Oh absolutely not. Considering the last few seasons we kept going out at like R16, no one really rated Inter as treble contenders. Think everyone assume Barca would have it stitched up before the season even began.

But from an Inter perspective even domestically there were some real statement wins eg Vs Milan just after Sneijder signed which built more and more confidence for the fans
