I don’t think Inzaghi really had or has a rule that player on yellow should be subbed off.

Inzaghi has said countless times he has taken off players because they got yellow cards.

Acerbi even said recently he had to convince his coach to leave him on the pitch after getting a yellow.

In an interview with Italian television broadcaster DAZN after the match, and as reported by FCInterNews.it, Acerbi admitted that he had to speak to Inzaghi and reassure him that he would remain disciplined, with the coach deciding to leave his defender on for the remainder of the game.

“He’s afraid of being left with 10 men due to those random chances that happen on the pitch. Today I didn’t know if he’d take me off or throw me down, but I told him to stay calm,” the Italy international claimed.

“A defender’s skill is knowing how to play with the yellow card. Attention is the main quality of a defender, with a yellow card you usually play with more care.”

I read this morning that Inter recently held talks with Diego Simeone as a replacement for Inzaghi in the Summer.

I can't see it happening though due to Simeone's wages and the fact that he would in all likelihood not be keen on building a free agent team.

Didn't he also say right after Empoli game that Skriniar's case was exactly why he takes off players after their first yellow?

Nah. I thought so as well but it was just a FIF argument. :D

The only thing he said was he never had a player getting two yellows so fast.

This might be true.
Inzaghi won the Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa Italiana in his debut campaign after replacing Antonio Conte and fought to the end with Milan for the Scudetto.
Unlike Conte, Inzaghi has been able to twice qualify for the Champions League Round of 16 and the upcoming clash is with FC Porto.

Inzaghi’s record on the Inter bench is of 54 victories, 13 draws and only 15 defeats, his team scoring 164 goals and conceding 78.
In comparison, Conte oversaw 65 wins, 23 draws and 15 defeats, scoring 214 goals and conceding 102.

I personally think Inzaghi deserves better funding to put his ideas into practice. I can imagine him winning Scudettos with the kind of funding Mancini and Conte have enjoyed. Given the recent transfer campaigns AND key players injury, I think he is doing an acceptable job.

» What I don`t like:
  • playing Gagliardinho ahead of Asllani. G5 has no future in this club
  • lack of consistency in preparing league matches: (fuckups like the one against Empoli) where players did not feel the pressure and were not driven enough. They need to have a 2 goals lead before relaxing like that. This costed us last year`s Scudetto and seems that we`ll have the same result this season
  • rotation: not playing enough certain valuable players, like Gosens. This costs us in the long run (championship)
  • Correa obsession: the fact that he wanted him puts him on a dangerous cycle where he keeps playing hopingt that Correa gains confidence/form/justifies his value. Obviously this will never happen at Inter
  • not developing players/helping them reach top form: we could all witness the Conte + Pintus effect on certain players. How many players levels have been elevated by Inzaghi and his staff? I can only think of DiMarco, all the rest seem to have regressed
  • young players: not much playtime, but we could argue that we have a very limited number of talented young players in the current squad. Just like you, I would rather prefer we allow 10-15 minutes for likes of Carboni instead of Gagliardinho - especially when we are leading, as we are already out of the Scudetto race
True.. I think we are in the right direction with him as a coach..

To fix our problem.. got to start with the owner's pocket (Zhang is a decent owner, problem is his pocket when COVID hits).. I don't mind he stays if he gets his pocket fix (very unlikely tho) else we need a similar owner with a bigger budget.. coz inter, in fact 70%-80% of top clubs are not making money..

For me Inzaghi's coaching team is on a good path to be like Arsene Wenger.. if he can fix his petty² issues like what you stated.. I think he can be Alex Ferguson if given the time and chances..

Wack me

I really don't think coach could do anything tonight. We have more then enough chances, but simply we don't have players who can finish the action with the goal.

So against Sampdoria he fields Skriniar DeVrij Acerbi as the last three, who in this system should be CBs who know how to bring the ball forward, who will force the midfielders of Sampdoria to attack our back three along with their attackers, and open an empty space in the middle so that we can act quickly and create chances going forward. None of that, cause our clown coach puts three of the slowest cbs to play tonight, in a match against a significantly worse team in terms of quality. The guy is either a bad coach, cause he changes a striker for a striker or a midfielder for a midfielder when result is not good, afer all these shitty results against minions last two years he hasn't still realized that our main problem starts playing defensive three like tonight. I wouldn't say he's just bad, he's also an ordinary pussy who doesn't have the balls to set up a more offensive game against teams like Sampdoria. Darmian-Skriniar-Bastoni should have played as a back three tonight, but the clown just doesn't get it.

he had 8 days to figure out how to beat the 19th team in the league and he failed

also that was some weird defensive trio and even though they weren't problem by themselves, dropping Bastoni who offers something in attack doesn't make sense

How is the manager not at fault? We are the only team in the world that makes substitutions and the team plays worse after. And no it’s not a one off thing, it’s constant. He can’t read a game to save his life.

Taking off Lukaku and Barella with the way both of them were playing is criminal. Lautaro and Calha were completely off it from the get go, it’s obvious to see to everybody but this moron.

The issue with him is that he pre plans the game in his head and has all the subs already planned before a ball is kicked. It’s the only possible explanation for the constant nonsense we see. If we’re happy with getting out of the CL group and winning a cup every year then keep keeping going with him. If you want to win a league title then get rid because this guy won’t win the French league with PSG. He’ll fail to win the Bundelsiga with Bayern. Heck he wouldn’t win this league if you gave him a 20 point advantage

I'd like to agree but we can't afford anyone better AND no one will want to come work in these conditions.

I don't understand him, at all. No Dimarco OR Bastoni against a team where we'll have the ball for 95% of the game? Barella off instead of Mkhi? Lukaku off for Dzeko instead of taking a CB off? It's idiot AND cowardly coaching, all at once.

...and YET, I blame mostly the players. They're petulant morons who need a sergeant type to kick their ass, and if you constantly need that level of input to motivate yourself then maybe you're just not that good of a football player. To be honest, Top 4, Supercup, a CL run and a Coppa Italia is going to start looking like a miracle considering the situation he's in.

(Goes without saying that this is primarily Suning's fault, all of my posts carry that sentiment)

He better win the Coppa.

I care more about CL which brings prestige and money to the club. We have a golden chance to reach at least quarterfinals this year. He better deliver. Only way to save the season.

Well of course. But it's gotta be both.

This guy made Pioli and Spalletti scudetto winners.
I don't think this season's Napoli has anything to do with Inzaghi. Last season's Milan could be attributed to our meltdown, but Napoli has made themselves the Scudetto winners this season by themselves.

This. His games are engraved in a stone unless someone gets a yellow.

This team is just is all over the place in terms of mentality and professionalism.

Obviously I don't expect us to win every match but I don't think it's too much to ask that we stick relatively close to the script of "beat the teams we're supposed to beat and compete against teams that'll give us a match."

Instead, we started the season by losing to every single one of our direct rivals in a pathetic display of beta-ness. At one point, our head-to-head record against Lazio, Milan, Roma and Juventus was Loss, Loss, Loss, Loss.

Now we're doing the exact opposite and performing well in the big games while hemorrhaging points against weaker opponents.

We've had 6 games against weak opponents this calendar year so far - Monza, Parma, Verona, Empoli, Cremonese, Samp. Not a single one of these 6 teams is in the top half of the table. 3 of them are in the relegation zone. 1 of them is in fucking Serie B. And yet, in these 6 games we've kept just 2 clean sheets, scored just 7 goals, conceded 5, and won only 3.

Its revealing that these shit games have directly followed wins against rivals. What should be a motivating, morale-boosting win to build upon, instead becomes a routine marker for an upcoming predictable capitulation. The only conclusion that can possibly be drawn from this is that the players themselves are simply just cunts while Limone himself can not motivate them to approach the small games with the necessary effort.
