Diffenitely wasn't the lesser of two evils given his injuries, attitude and general performance. Also his style of play. So who was your preference then, that was within budget?
Loan deal for Jovic.

Very good first season with bitter end. I hope this does not have negative impact on him and the squad, but to make them more hungry and ruthless instead.

More importantly, hopefully he learns that the priorities of trophies are different here. At Lazio, his best chance to win something was in the Coppa, which is five games if you're one of the best teams so it's not too difficult to imagine being able to string together five good games and win something. The Scudetto is just too unlikely for the Lazios of the world...but the Scudetto is where your bread is buttered at Inter.

Lemme put it like this - four games vs. Milan this season in the two competitions. W, L, 2 D's. The composition of those - which games in which competition had those results - led us to the Coppa and Milan to the Scudetto. Every single Rossonero on the planet will take that end of the exchange. The Coppa is scarce consolation. We would all gladly have lost 3-0 in the Coppa game if it meant we won that league game in February and won the Scudetto.

The sooner Simone learns this, the better we'll all be.

Bring him Luis Alberto, some overrated Italian player from the Italian newspapers (the English treatment their players get from their newspapers), bring him Immobile.

Yes do that. And convince us here how those said players are the bomb, or even better, if we get them for cheap justify how financially it all makes sense.

Pls do that.

Don't have one.

Good point, especially if the squad stays the same, or we don't significantly improve our depth. He has to prioritize and realize we can't go full gas every game.

I was just thinking, and it's kinda connected to what you are saying, this season he seldom rotated players in midfield, and yes we had gaglia, vecino and vidal there but maybe if he risked it a couple of games and put gaglia or vidal as starters more often, our main trio would have been better off, and we could have had a couple of more points on the table.

I'm sure he realized early on that those three are not the same quality, so he stuck to a proven formula, but I remember last year we saw gaglia and vecino in many more games. Conte knew as well that they are not quality, but he also knew he would bury brozo, barella and eriksen if he played them all the time.

Exactly. 1 point against Genoa and Sassuolo. 7 points in 7 games in February-March. That's where title was lost.

Good football doesn't mean much if you don't get the results. I take winning ugly over losing beautifully every single day.

If only that was the case, our february-march fall was extremely ugly.
How Inter looked most of the time under Conte and Inzaghi gets approval from me. Not yet perfect from Inzaghi, but with Conte we scored lots and got scored on a lot less. Inzaghi needs to prove he can hold the high level mental state of the team throughout the season.

He exceeded the initial expectations.
Problem is that he enabled us to raise expectations and eventually lost to Pioli's Milan who exceeded expectations even more.

Give this man the tools to have a CL worthy squad and he might just deliver that. Let's see how that unfolds.

February-March was an issue of lack of reinforcement in January. Blame the management and ownership for the lack of depth.
And obviously the Genoa, Sassuolo and especially Bologna games hurt a lot.

I still won't forget that Sanchez was fouled in the derby when they equalized...

very good post from Brehme. It sums up more or less our opinion on Inzaghi's first season.

This is why we lost the title. When you have 2 of your strikers in the top 5 of most missed chances you can't really blame it on the Manager.

Inzaghi done his part and more. Lautaro and Dzeko failed to be clinical for us.

We conceded 3 goals less this season then last 32 vs 35.

It makes you wonder how many more goals Immobile would score if he was clinical.

Tbh season under Conte was a bit of an anomaly and numbers are a bit deceiving. Defense was pathetic at the start with 3-4-1-2 and Zeman-like football. Once he realised this wasn't sustainable and he switched back to 3-5-2 and playing deeper there was a huge improvement in defence.

I think Inzaghi did overall good job, but made some mistakes too.

I didn’t like his subs most of the games, but I think he improved end of the campaign, as I think he got more familiar with our players or their limitations?

Dzeko was played too much and more rotation should have seen earlier. Lautaro-Dzeko did not find needed chemistry and that cost us points.

Sensi loan was a big mistake and maybe if Inzaghi had given him more chances when he was fit he would not wanted to leave? But instead Gags had more changes than Sensi. Marotta mistake was not replacing him.

Im still not sure do Inzaghi have enough man managment skills or personality to win players full confidence like Conte, Mourinho, Pep, Klop… they can get in players mind and get more out of them. February-March slump was too long and those can’t happen in the future at this level! Barella also seemed much better and had more confidence under Conte!

I think we had much better squad than anyone other team in Serie A, so in that way I don’t see he exeeded, but maybe under performed just a little?

Don’t get me wrong I enjoy his forward going style of play and we create lot of changes, but we only exploit maybe ~40% of those changes? Maybe its man managment/mental or individual thing or all of those things… can it get better?

But yeah I still think Inzaghi is right man to lead this project and I hope we can improve our scoring with new players!
