The question should be if there is ever a successful British player in Serie A?

John Charles is a Juve legend, and is widely regarded as Juve's best foreign player of all time. I would say the likes of Graeme Souness, Paul Ince, Trevor Francis, Paul Gascoigne, Gerry Hitchens, David Platt and Liam Brady can also consider their Italian stint as success.

There is a decent sized list (if you count Irish players as well) but the list of failures is comparatively larger.

The last one was Paul Ince for Inter.

There is also a big list of failed Italian and Argentinian players in Italy.

And a very small list of FIFers who make irrelevant posts which for some odd reason they think are relevant.

Of our current IN row, I only want Barella and Tonali. Benassi would also be good, if Candreva/Gagliardini are going the other way.

The last one was Paul Ince for Inter.

Maybe you mean that the last one to succeed was Ince? Because it does not read like that.

I have fond memories of Paul Ince at Inter. We didn't have very high expectations of him, and his spirit and work rate was refreshing. I thought he did rather well. I remember chatting with interisti at that time, and everyone liked Incey.

I think it's safe to say that it's hard to find an interista who didn't like him. He gave all he had on the pitch and his contribution was good. So there was really nothing not to like.

If anything, the way he left was a bit disappointing. I mean, I get that you want to go back to your country, maybe also because your wife wants the kid to be raised in England (that's what we have been told and it's probably true), but still, why break something which was working for both him and the club?

It could have been a much more meaningful story.

according to gazzetta, caceres to parma (from lazio) and okaka to udinese (from watford, a club with the same owner) are done deals. neither of the two is official yet.

Yeah, sorry. There was meant to be a quote from someone in between :)

Our list of players that we are interested in is sad.

Yeah, Barella has high potential if he gets to play in a good team. But thats another topic.

Also, i get that scary “ouch hope not” vibe for the Young rumor, I had the same exact vibe for Gargano and Rocchi. It’s one if those times when you come at peace with “yeah ofcourse he will join, he is shit”...

That list is not accurate though, it's just media shitfest to a large extent. Four names only are accurate and they're not even for the winter.

Still a sad list.

Even if we got the best players on our list up there, maximum will be a 3rd place or 2nd if we are superlucky.

We need next level players. No more excuses. Fuck all the next Pogbas, next Ronaldos, next Pirlos.

Like Brehme said, we're not going to spend any type of big money in winter. The biggest conceivable move I can think of is getting Barella on loan with an option with Gagliardini/Candreva/Ranocchia going the other way, and I really don't think that's going to happen. Goddamn do we need a midfielder though.

I do agree with you though, we need to spend big on and on quality. And I think Suning, Marotta and Ausilio agree and will show us in the summer; in fact, I wouldn't be surprised by a James Rodriguez type move. But for now, the vault has gotta stay shut until after June.

The only next whatever we are after is that Tchouameni kid who I've never seen play, but he has a great following from top clubs like Bayern so I guess he must be at a level where he can play immediately. No clue on price tags etc.

There's also the kid GK who will probably be groomed to be the ehir of Handa within the next 3 seasons.

Barella is unlikely now, he's not coming on any loan deal. We should hope that Cagliari keeps rejecting all these Napoli bids and that no one is going to splash 40-50m on him now. It doesn't look likely that a team will do so now. Chelsea is the only worrh but after spending 60+ on Pulisic who won't even join instantly, I don't see them going for it. If he survives winter as a Cagliari player he should be ours in the summer.

It is Steven's first mercato as a president. Hopefully he is gonna show something. Not the Hernanes type though.

If I have to make some predictions for Inter's big summer buys:

- Chiesa: Inter will go after Chiesa in the summer. I suspect we will even offer Karamoh to sweeten the deal and make it affordable.

- Barella: He is another player Inter will spend big on, again offering some key players in exchange. Most likely in the summer.

- Anderson: When Miranda leaves, Inter will go after Anderson. As usual, Sampdoria will have a pick from our primavera/loanees.

- Mr X-factor: There will be a marquee singing, as much for marketing reasons as sporting. Modric maybe?
