It is always easy to overestimate a team if they play attractive/possession football. But, the only reason Spain even got to play a semi final is the large amount of ref fuckups in their game vs Germany. Spain parked the bus for the majority of that game, barely had 40% possession during the 2nd half and simply would have been out if the Germans had gotten their penalty. I know this penalty was denied due to earlier ref fuckups regarding Kroos, but still.
We should also not forget that France were historically bad this tournament. They would have lost to the Netherlands as well if VAR hadn't cried about our boy Dumfries standing where he stood, by the same, tight 1 goal margin. And Netherlands were not even playing a good game. Spain is the only team France ended up scoring a field goal against. Italy, as another major country they faced, they dominated for 90 mins and still couldn't score once.
Neither England nor the Netherlands are retarded teams, they know no team is untouchable only because their style can look pretty. They will analyze and learn from the way the Germans handled Spain in the 2nd half, look at Spain's wastefulness, weaknesses in defense, heavily man mark the most effective players. The ball still is and always will be round. If EN/NL defense is at their peak during the final and they manage to score, which especially NL has been able to do quite a lot, even in their worst games, then everything is very much possible. Finals are rarely that easy... I consider Spain favorites as well, though. But, definitely not by as much as most people now seem to do.
I think this final will be tight and tense as fuck, whoever Spain's opponent ends up being. But, if you consider my position in our football pool at work, this probably means that Spain will comfortably win 4-1.
