Also i m not sure what you think my argument is? I m all for loaning players out....
I brought up balo cause even if you have all the talent in the world a coach who likes you and you get regular playing time you still might end up not good enough for a top club.... Bascally i just wanted to illustrate that simply playing some of those Primavera players even if they are talented does not mean they ll amount to a player good enough to be at Inter.
And i find it hilarious that such ideas come from people who bash some of our lesser players who atm are better than any primavera kid.
Of course there are no guarantees a player develops. Just like there is no guarantee a signing doesn’t flop. We spent 30 mil to find out Correa has a shit mentality even after that was favored by a coach he had already worked with. There are no guarantees in football.

Anyways, agree to disagree I guess. I don’t see why a talent like Carboni for example can’t be given opportunities at Inter to grow. I’m not anti-loan if we know a coach will refuse to play a guy. Or there is no room in his position. Carboni imo would have been used this season as back up to Thuram by many non-Italian coaches. But sure he could have flopped…just like Arnautovic and Correa before him.

I'm going to say Arnautovic will be more useful for us than Carboni would have been this season. Let him cook elsewhere where he can actually play his own game and not try to adjust to a role and position which is not his.

Again i think we basically agree....

Like sure we could have kept carboni around and he might have gotten playing time but thats not guaranteed.... He might be a starter t Marseille and benefit way more from a year there than a year as thuram backup.
All i m saying there is 0 evidence that a player develops better if he s already playing at a big club vs being loaned out. And of all our youth who did not get enough time according to FIF only cou amounted to something where we have to regret it. So i dont really get the point of us wasting talent.....
Only big cub that consistently produces talent s barca and they have a huge advantage over us with the B squad.

Again my whole point in this argument was simply giving more playing time to our youth for the sake of it is not gonna make em Inter material suddenly which some have proposed i dont think it was you. Also my other point is you have to be a huge fucken talent to get playing time at 18/19 at a big club and most of our current squad (which i rate highly) would not have been able to do that...
Thats it.

I dunno if di Gregorio is regret yet? Like, we could have brought him back this summer if we really wanted to probably, we instead signed another keeper at a similar age and cost. Don't get me wrong, we only got like 2.5m for him if you factor the sell on fee, that's not great but it seems like we wanted other choices for GK

From a financial point of view he can be considered a regret imo. We sold him for 6m and two years later he was named best GK in the league and he was sold for 20m. We underestimated how much he could improve. Even if we thought he didn't fit our style we should have earned more from his sale.

Now about the pitch only time will tell if he's gonna be a regret. Di Gregorio is a great shot stopper but not so good with ball on his feet. So not a de facto regret but a potential one. It really depends on how Martinez ends up for us. If he works out for us and replace Sommer in the long term no one will really care about Di Gregorio. But if Martinez flops and he's offloaded in couple years then Di Gregorio could become even a sporting regret. Jury is still out.

Came in against Roma from the bench at 58. minute, was there for little over minute when he drew a penalty which Colombo converted to make it 0-2 for Empoli.

I really hope he can keep it up for the season

he's kinda in last chance saloon but if he can fix his mentality/deliver on his potential, then he'll get an evaluation at least

You can hardly say it's his last chance when he's 22. Also we have already made an evaluation by loaning him out with an option. Whether that evaluation was fair or too low remains to be seen.

Last chance to (demonstrably) turn his mentality around..after four somewhat failed seasons, people's willingness to take a gamble on him will reduce significantly. At least he's off to a decent start, hopefully he can deliver and it'll create an interesting career path for him (eg not just some Serie B fluffer no one cares about)

But he has already turned things around in terms of mentality. He's coming from 6 good months at Bari and an entire good season at Sampdoria. Now it's his chance to establish himself in Serie A.

Let's see if it holds up. He seems to have good spells and then drops out of the team, I'm not yet ready to proclaim him turned around on 6 okay months
