How people still think tactically we did bad in this game is beyond me.
We had really good play making, not flashy but it created chances, converting them is on the players.

Dzeko screwing up is not a news, but he at least was able to convert his chances and being a good low key 4th CB.

The goal we conceded, I think was either due to a tactical outplay or individual players deviated from the plan, to elaborate, Sass was knocking a few times with the same way before the goal, and it all comes from Dumfries pressed up and D'Ambrosio had to stick to Laur's back to prevent the turn and run, else there is no way we can cover the right side, either it is a fluke or not subbing Skriniar in, was right, cause D'Ambrosio is not up for it.
That is for final third pressing play, but it happened in the defensive third, when Dumfries was in supposedly Barella's spot and right flank was wide opened, and the late shift of Skriniar to the the flank, lead to the other 2Cb not in the best position for the change, so it depends if Inzaghi wanted Dumfries to be there or not, and if so was Skriniar supposed to be covering the flank.
Either way in the late game you see other players telling dumbfries to stay back, but that is already 2-1, so that is why I wasn't sure.

Other than that the team did pretty well, so did Sass though.

It’s still worrying that this team struggles to maintain a clean sheet after leading.

It’s one thing to concede when your trying to win the game, but to concede on almost every occasion, when your in the lead is now a problem.

Good result, but not the best game from our side.

We seriously lack a player that can take on people 1vs1.
Two years ago we had Hakimi and Perisic. Last year we had Perisic, we created lots of chances and lots of good results.
We're back to Spalletiball and Pioliball - Play wide and aim for crosses.

Player by player we're in the top 15 club in the world right now. But we still miss some players that can unlock the full team.
Hopefully we'll be able to get a fast wingback that is also descent at attacking and defending, Bellanova seems alright thus far.

LuLa will hopefully soon flourish again.

What do you guys think? What are our problems? Where do we need to improve?

I’m not liking the Bastoni-Dimarco duo on that left side. ‘Sandro is really struggling without Perisic. Dimarco just doesn’t give the defensive solidity that Perisic did.

Wasn’t a pretty game but I’ll take it with our current form. And against Sassoulo no less.

Spaletti ball and pioli ball are leading the league and in napoli’s case, imposing their will in Europe as well.

Thats cause he has players for that system, unlike us.

Regarding Pioli I‘d go ahead and give you the point, because last season he received his proof of concept winning the Serie A.

But Spaletti‘s Napoli started off even better last season by winning nine and drawing one. Even we were ferocious und Spaletti in the first 15 games, but after that we became unstable. So if Napoli still continues like this after 20-25 games I‘d consider them serious competition. Everything else would be immature.

It was a pretty good performance and great result after a tough European match. We weren't convincing offensively obviously but we didn't gave up too much. There was a period in the game, the start of the second half to the point they equalized when were slacking a bit. Other than that, not that much under the pressure. We scored the goals we needed to win the match and that's how you play football. :D
