Forza Colombia! Best team in World Cup IMO. I hope they beat Brazil.

This will be a tough match for Brazil, specially with Luiz Gustavo suspended.

Let's see how Scolari will arrange the team, hopefully Hulk and Fred out for a more defensive formation against James and Cuadrado.

First real test for Colombia.

Brazil should play neither Fred or Jo. Let Neymar play as a "false 9" and give him support.

Yeah I think willian and hulk could do an ok job on the wings and neymar as false 9 can be beastly. Still with Gustavo out I suppose fernandinho is going to take his place and maybe Hernanes gets a shot, but I doubt that. It's going to be a Fernandinho-Paulinho-oscar midfield most likely.

So excited for this game!!! I have been waiting for it for a long time. Should be an attractive back and forth between the Two teams. Will be a high scoring game but at the end only one team has James :)

At the end of BRA x CHI match everybody was worried because Neymar had suffered a knock but latest reports here in Brazil claim he is ok and that he should be fine to resume training on Tuesday with the rest of the team.

GdS reports today that there is a battle for the first '11' to replace disqualified Luiz Gustavo between Paulinho, HERNANES and Ramires. Paulinho is a favourite, Hernanes can give the greatest quality in offence, Ramires is the least convincing option.

Surprising that these two haven't met much in the recent past but Colombia should be solid favorites going into the match...They are the most polished side overall in the WC, for me...Amazing that they've successfully adapted to Falcao's absence through the the lethal combo of James & Cuadrado, makes you wonder whether they'd be better or worse with Falcao

Brasil are still fairly disorganized and have yet to put in a superlative performance over 90 minutes, I think Los Cafeteros will punish them

Even if I'd love to see Hernanes starting, it would make no sense to play him in Luiz Gustavo's position. Specially against a team with James Rodriguez and Cuadrado.

Paulinho + Hernanes would make more sense than Fernandinho + Hernanes but I guess Scolari will start Paulinho + Fernandinho :eek:kay:

Tbh I think Brazil can benefit from Hernanes. He is a clinical player and can shoot. With Brazil's disorganized team and bad passing they might find it hard to get through Colombia's defense even though it is mediocre. Hernanes's long shot can be very beneficial.

If they go with 4-2-3-1 which I believe is the formation which they used in the last game they can put Fernandinho and Paulinho as DMs and Hernanes as an AM in front of them. Willian and Hulk can play on the sides and Neymar as a striker. I don't think Oscar should start this game as he was poor in the last one.

Also Fred and Jo are completely shit and need to be dropped immediately. IMO, Neymar can do a finer job.

Hulk might have been average in this tournament but imo his last game was good. For me he was the best Brazilian player in that game.

Another option, which is my preferred option, would be to bring in Dante and move Luiz to DM instead of Paulinho. Luiz tends to make runs forward and leave a gap behind him. With him in DM, Brazil won't need to worry about gaps at the back as much.

All in all, whatever formation and whatever players, but Fred, Jo, Paulinho and Oscar need to be dropped for this game.

Interesting choice to move Luiz to DM, however I don't think Scolari will mess with a gelled centerback pairing.

Seyedo, I agree with almost everything you've said but Scolari does not seem willing to change anyone from the team which won Confederatios Cup. Following 4 (!!!) weak displays the only change he has done so far was Fernadinho for Paulinho...

AM position would be perfect for Hernanes, pushing Neymar to play as striker. Fred and Jo are really shit and I guess Scolari is regretting badly now not calling Diego Costa for Brazilian nt before (and I can understand why Diego chose to defend Spain).

Only a few players have been great, mainly Neymar, Luiz Gustavo, David Luiz and Thiago Silva. Some have been average and most others are shit. We have really few option from the bench with quality and the ability to change the dynamics of a match (probably only Hernanes?).

Brazil x Colombia will be decided on the ability of David Luiz + Thiago Silva + whoever plays as DM to hold James (a tough task with Cuadrado assisting him) and how good will Neymar play.

Yeah I really don't know what Scolari is thinking. Why is he insisting on the same players that won the Confederations Cup!!!

I really had high hopes for Brazil this year and with Scolari in charge, a true winner who knows how to win a world cup I was sure this was Brazil's world cup but doubting it more and more each game.

Thatdude, what gelling are you talking about?! Have you seen their defense?! It is horrible! All the goals scored on Brazil so far were from stupid and totally avoidable defensive errors! Marcelo scoring an own goal, throw in for Brazil which somehow was converted to a goal for Chile and the Cameroon game which they were just leaving Cameroonians wide open and welcomed them to come and score. They were just a crossbar away from getting eliminated in round of 16 but they got lucky. Sooner or later their luck will run out!

This world cup so far has been the defenders' world cup and with such horrible defending Brazil won't make it! How many more signs Scolari needs to see to make a change?! how many more defensive mistakes? How many more times Fred and Jo need to miss the goal, misplace a pass or just fall down? They don't play as a team, they are just 11 individuals on the pitch with almost zero understanding!

Neymar got injured early on in the last game and Brazil were completely out of ideas without him and I don't expect him to regain his form for the next game either. Without Gustavo and Neymar, 2 of their best performers, Brazil are in for a nightmare!

I'm not blaming Scolari for not calling up Costa the traitor earlier, but I blame him for not bringing better forwards. Fred and Jo, two mediocre forwards who play in the Brazilian league and even there they don't score much. He could've called up Firmino (I know he isn't a striker but he can score and I think can play as a forward better than Jo and Fred) and Luiz Adriano. If he doesn't like those forwards, he could play Neymar as a striker. He has enough wingers on the team to replace Neymar. Bernard, Willian, Hulk and to some extent Oscar can be decent wingers. Could've had even more if he had called up Lucas!

If Brazil don't win this world cup I am blaming Scolari and Costa the traitor!

Somehow Colombia looks better, yet I feel somehow Brazil is not going to loose. There's just no way they'll go down before reaching the final, even if they play like shit, disorganized and what have you. Colombia will go all for the win, might take them to extra time and give them all kinds of hell, but in the end will end up loosing the game. They only way I can see Colombia progressing, is through penalties.

I don't think so, both Mexico and Chile showed that they can fuck up 'big' teams, sadly for them a bit of luck was missing. But Colombia HAS BEEN playing consistently well for a couple of years now, and they even play good without their main attacker, Falcao. The hype is real.

But I can see this game being another draw, tho.
