Completely forgetting all the embarrassing world cups?

2010
In a group containing Slovakia, Paraguay and New Zealand finished dead last.

2014
Again eliminated in group stages along with England - Costa Rica and Uruguay advanced

Failed to qualify for the 2018 and 2022 wc.

Italy has been a joke of a team ever since they won the world cup in 2006.
That Euro win completely masked the problems this team has - there's no real world class talent and hasn't been since Andrea Pirlo retired.
You can't Greece yourself at every international tournament since luck can only bring you so far.
but even in that dissapointing world cups we did make more.

I remember how we lost against Costa Rica because Balotelli was missing goals and against Uruguay the Suarez Chiellini bite, it was also unlucky even if that italy wasn't great. But 1 shot on goal against Swiss and such a poor perfomance is just a scandal.

Confirmed as a coach. Shame we will continue to let our players play for NT. It should be a collective decision to just not answer his calls.

Spalletti is just one of many Italian's football problem. Another big trouble is the pool of mediocre players. Perhaps only Donnarumma, Bastoni, and Barella that have chances to be starters in top clubs. The others are just meh. It is difficult to advance far when your attackers are the Scamming neck tattoo, the washup Sharaawy, 7-goals-per-season Retegui, and Chiesa who suffered ACL injury. It becomes worse because Spalletti is clueless in creating the team cohesion. Still, while Spalletti should have done better with players at his disposal against more inferior Switzerland, Italy would have bleak future if they cannot develop emerging talents.

Who was the coach in South Africa?
Lippi. They brought him back after firing Donadoni.

Lippi
Donadoni
Lippi
Prandelli
Conte
Ventura
Mancini
Spalletti

Italian coaches since 2016. And every single one of them was better than Spalletti, minus Ventura.

I am no scamacca fan but his performances in Europa League against Liverpool says he is perfectly capable on his day. But he doesn't work as a lone striker and that is how he was deployed for 90% of this tournament.

The more I watch Ndoye the more I think he would be an amazing signing. He is everywhere.

His stock is really rising and a good kid too, great head on his shoulders - loves to compete
