Really? Ventura's italy was pretty bad too, he wanted to put in DDR when needing to score a goal, even DDR was pissed.

I was strictly talking about major tournaments. The Ventura era is easily the worst ever.

It is also decades since Italy fielded such a poor mediocre team, reality is that this team isn’t really much better then the one Denmark has. which at large was also represented in the booking sides verdict of the teams. Italy had a very high 1:1600 again or 4% chance of winning and let be honest they only got that because of history not because of the quality of the team, because realistically they never stood much better chance then Denmark in winning the trophy, the team is simply too poor. While he is certainly to blame for lacklustre performances, people also need to be realistic about the quality of the team that simply never had much quality in it to begin with

It was offside. At all we had only 1 shot on goal with retegui and that swiss player who almost scored an own goal.
Schär who I mentioned pre-match always has an error in him

Spalletti has always been a loser until the stars aligned with Napoli. He needs to shut the fuck up. And honestly he should be sacked. The guy left Orsolini and Colpani at home. Both of them were coming off excellent goal scoring seasons. Hell even old ass Bonaventura would’ve been more useful than someone like Cristante or Jorginho.

If you wanna rely on an Inter core you shouldn't abandon the 3-5-2.. they are used to that for several years :palm:

Dimarco is too weak defensively for a 4-men defense. While Bastoni not roaming forward neutralizes most of his best qualities.

Darmian leftback... when was the last time he played there, if ever?!?

Horrible game, no shot on target till like 80th minute, pure BS.

Spalletti needs to be shot for not knowing what he is playing since he took over. NTM Leaving Orsolini and even Ricci was a big mistake from the start. Cristante? really? not for nothing i dont think darmian should have been with the team, udogie or cambiasso as vice dimarco is the obvious choice. His so called son Di Lorenzo sucked balls and Bellanova should have had a chance. Why not start Zaccagni rather than El Sharaway.

Only thing close is the 2012 final.
Completely forgetting all the embarrassing world cups?

2010
In a group containing Slovakia, Paraguay and New Zealand finished dead last.

2014
Again eliminated in group stages along with England - Costa Rica and Uruguay advanced

Failed to qualify for the 2018 and 2022 wc.

Italy has been a joke of a team ever since they won the world cup in 2006.
That Euro win completely masked the problems this team has - there's no real world class talent and hasn't been since Andrea Pirlo retired.
You can't Greece yourself at every international tournament since luck can only bring you so far.

Never thought Spalletti was that bright, but a cravenly arsehole as well. If he remains Italia coach then Inter players should reconsider playing, you can always have that unexplained "nagging injury".

I think Spalletti's failure will make our Italian core really fkn hungry for next season. Lets get some more silverware! Destroy Meelan on record 7th win in September, then win the supercup vs Fonseca/Motta in Jan25.

What a abysimal horror show. I have never liked Spalletti tbh. Just keep Allegri and Pioli away from Nazionale after this guy have left.

He said he's not leaving. Doubt FIGC sacks him.

Spaletti is an idiot. You played all the Inter players out of position but then you blame them... They didn't play Di Lorenzo, cristante,Mancini, ect when you had better options.
3-5-2 was the way to go but spaletti's complete arrogance meant we ended up with some horrific hybrid between 3-5-2 and 4-3-3.

Sack him and get alegri.

I also wonder why everybody blames Inter players?! Actually, the Inter players brought the only win for Italy in this tournament. It was on Spalletti for me. All of the players looked clueless. The midfield was bypassed easily, especially vs Switzerland. They even struggled to counter attack properly.
