How is it underwhelming? Croatia has a better midfield than Spain's overrated mids.

I said brilliant also. I said underwhelming as, it's good to see one of the unexpected teams in finals but finals might be boring one sided.

Nothing against these teams, just that world cup latter stages without Spain, Germany, Italy is bit surprising. If Brazil also loses then it will be world cup of underdogs except France.
