He was lively for a change and probably should have started. Porto has super slow defenders.

Thank fuck he scored, header wasn't actually bad.

Still far below what he needs to be for that heavy cost.

Currently he can't run 90mins, but he's getting more dangerous. Goals are starting to add up.

The funny thing is he missed in the beginning like he always does in Europe. It's just this time the rebound came straight back to him.

He's so sure of himself now especially if given two tries in quick succession.

I really hate the situation about our forward line for they are all inconsistent and starting them is more like rolling dice rather than clever pick. Our sure starter Lautaro fluctuates between wasting easy chances and converting difficult half-chances, but at least you know what you get when pick him. Meanwhile for Dzeko and Lukaku, you must consider their game frequency, minutes played, fitness training performance, their breakfast, temperature, stock index etc and you still get random performances. This time Lukaku played his better game, the problem is knowing if he can keep up this performance and not returning to be a boar with wooden legs again.

ps: correa is deliberately omitted from discussion for the obvious reason

He HAS to start the reverse fixture, especially when Porto will be pushing for a goal from the outset.

Dzeko seems gassed out after half a season, so Lukaku needs to start and deliver.

That cunt Correa better get fit as well, so at least we have more options upfront.

He was way better than usual, the best out the offensive line by far, we need more of this and less of whatever the hell he was doing before.
At less he was reactive when the ball hit the post but even before the goal he played a pretty good ball for Lautaro but he wasn't able to reach it.

Still you can see something is missing, there was that moment where he tried two times to run past 40 years old Pepe and failed, the burst of pace he used to have in him is gone.

It's not like his performance was impressive, but at least he did some good things except of the matchwinner goal. At least he was better than Dzeko, but the latter one was complete garbage. Anyone serious would have put in a better display though.

Glad that Romelu was decisive, but this is just a baby step towards his regain of form which will still be a difficult task.

Lukaku came on for Inter in the 58th minute of their Round of 16 first leg clash with Porto, and netted the winning goal in the 86th minute, allowing the Nerazzurri to put one foot in the quarter-finals.

La Gazzetta dello Sport had high praise for the Belgian striker, claiming he could be a key factor in Inter’s season, saying: “Welcome back Romelu. On the night he wanted, the one he had prepared for. Not just the goal, but the back-heel, the assist to Lautaro, the near-brace: if this is him, he can change Inter’s season.”

Corriere della Sera highlighted how Lukaku’s goal could be key for their Champions League progression, commenting: “He disguised himself as a superhero and changed Inter’s fate. His goal is worth a lot in terms of qualification.”

Tuttosport were also impressed with Lukaku’s performance in general, noting: “The goal crowned a very good half-hour.”

Lukaku’s ratings in the Italian newspapers:
  • La Gazzetta dello Sport: 7.5
  • Corriere dello Sport: 7
  • Tuttosport: 7
  • Corriere della Sera: 7.5

If he stays he'll have to go way down with his weight. I mean he's earning so much money, why don't you invest in chef, nutricionist, psychologist or whatever you need to keep your shape. Can't be that hard.

We cant make Kaku permanent on the basis that he's better than Dzeko. That should be the bare minimum. He needs to finish the season strong and injury free.

They should just send him back and punt on another striker for the future to partner with Lautaro. It’ll take a miracle to regain the kind of form he needs to get him scoring regularly again. Also the club’s current environment isn’t going to help his wavering mentality. I’d rather Inter leave this guy to his own problems and let them focus on fixing their own by looking elsewhere.

Unless he scores some crucial goals and lead us to some titles or high stages of CL it's crazy to extend his loan with those salaries/injuries/fatasses. Scoring here and there is not enough. That's the minimum an Inter striker should do, let alone the highest earner in the squad.

Bro's gonna reject every other destination in the summer so Chelsea will have no chance but to accept our offer to extend the loan for a minuscule fee.

He still hasn’t played for his boyhood club in France or Germany yet.

Anyway he looked lively against Porto. Dzeko clearly needs to be rested so Rom should be starting for the next few fixtures.

He owes us and he knows it. Fear not, he'll be here this time next year.

Yepp, that seems to be the narrative in the press as well. Most probably the reported gentlemen`s agreement will be kept.

From the CEO’s perspective, there is no question that he would like to reward players with new deals, although ultimately he and his colleagues have choices to make.
“We have numerous players whose contracts expires soon, from a professional point of view they all deserve to be given new deals,” the CEO said.

“However, when we analyze things, we unfortunately must put our emotions to the side and think about things rationally,” he continued.

“We will have to make our choices, we have to evaluate things, but we always do so with the utmost respect for the players in question,” the CEO stressed.

Marotta explained that “This is a dynamic that Sporting Sirector Ausilio has been trying to establish for a long time, I hope that we can reach conclusions that satisfy all the players who want to stay.”

Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport report that the Nerazzurri are confident that negotiating a new paid loan deal of the Belgian will not be a problem, particularly given that the player himself has made very clear that his only intention is to stay in Milan.
