What we need to avoid is to buy him next summer. Even with any new ownership.

If we end up selling big player next summer and then Lukaku is our "big" buy that summer, it would be the biggest mistake we can possibly do. Maybe another loan deal but we should never commit to Lukaku long term. I don't want to have that risk having Lukaku in our balance sheet and payroll with big figures at the age of 30+.

Well let's see how he performs this season first

I can't see a realistic scenario we should splash, let's say 40m€ to him. Even that would be quite a discount by Chelsea, given his book value next summer.

Only scenario when it COULD make sense is we are owned by filthy rich owner who doesn't restrict the spending of the management and provides everything so that FFP is not a concern.

All other scenarios suggests we should invest amount this large to young player(s).

Termination of the contract could be conceptually agreed but it's very unlikely imho. I suspect Lukaku has burned his bridges with Chelsea a bit, while it's not out of the world for him to go back there's probably some level of toxicity in the changing room with him going back and I think it's not the right move.
I have read Lukaku has a very good relationship with Chelsea new owner and with Chelsea having a new coach we can't rule out a return. But like you say, let's see how he performs first and then we can talk about whether he should stay or not and under which terms.

There's so much uncertainty around the club that it's pointless to discuss about 2023 summer mercato now.

There is nothing to discuss, he’s gone.

We wont buy if he has a bad season. And we cant trust his head to stay straight if he has a good season, another revenge story is what we will have in this case.

is there a way to bring Auba in, if Lukaku does not perform?

Dzeko isn't even under contract for next season. We'll need to sign two strikers next summer.
if there is no money it would be difficult to get even one quality signing. On the other hand. AUBA 'S fee was 12 mil. but he is 33.

Maybe we try to sign Marcus Thuram for free plus Satriano come back on loan.

Forget about Satriano, after this season he will move permanently to Empoli, with Asllani moving permanently to us.

a big YES for Marcus Thuram tho!

you guys are overreacting, he played few games and got injured. He will get to his best surely. 40m is peanuts for a player of his caliber. Im not sure what would be the buy out price for him, but if its anything in this margin then this is really no brainer. Chelsea are really not the best team when it comes to selling so im pretty sure we could negotiate a good deal here.

Gianluca di Marzio: “Chelsea and Inter could seek another loan for Romelu Lukaku”

Journalist Gianluca di Marzio has stated that Chelsea and Inter would look to find the best possible solution for the future of Romelu Lukaku and it could involve another loan deal for the Belgian.

Lukaku was desperate to return to Inter in the summer after a frustrating spell at Chelsea. While he is currently out injured and missed the vital Milan derby, he did find the net for the Nerazzurri earlier in the campaign.

Gianluca di Marzio appeared on a show by Sky recently and he gave his views and insights about potential transfers and what happened in the summer. He spoke about Lukaku’s situation and his future at Inter.

He stated: “He [Lukaku] did everything to return to Inter. I think Chelsea and Inter will find the best solution, maybe another loan, but I see his return unlikely.”

The journalist further stated: “In this deal, Inter paid €8 million for the loan and would pay another €10 million for a new loan next year. The price would then go down more and more if Inter decided to buy him back.”

Di Marzio also stated that he initially thought that Lukaku’s return to Inter was not possible and Marina Granovskaia would not have allowed a move to go through in any way. But a player’s desire made all the difference and allowed Lukaku to seal a return to Inter.

Let's wait and see. Lukaku performance hasn't, as of yet, justified any talks of another loan deal nor an outright purchase.
