Lukaku came on for Inter in the 58th minute of their Round of 16 first leg clash with Porto, and netted the winning goal in the 86th minute, allowing the Nerazzurri to put one foot in the quarter-finals.
La Gazzetta dello Sport had high praise for the Belgian striker, claiming he could be a key factor in Inter’s season, saying: “Welcome back Romelu. On the night he wanted, the one he had prepared for. Not just the goal, but the back-heel, the assist to Lautaro, the near-brace: if this is him, he can change Inter’s season.”
Corriere della Sera highlighted how Lukaku’s goal could be key for their Champions League progression, commenting: “He disguised himself as a superhero and changed Inter’s fate. His goal is worth a lot in terms of qualification.”
Tuttosport were also impressed with Lukaku’s performance in general, noting: “The goal crowned a very good half-hour.”
