FIF servers would crash if we signed Harry Maguire on a free
Possibly my biggest hot take but if you put him in the middle of Pavard and Bastoni he wouldn’t be a bad option at all.

Problem would be he doesn’t speak Italian and I can see him really struggling with understanding Inzaghi’s positional play.

That Maguire is slow in pace and in turning means that your ability to play a high line is compromised. Now you can easily suggest that Acerbi and De Vrij are hardly rapid players either, but I think both read the game and potential danger much better than Maguire. The one thing the Englishman would improve is aerial ball-winning in both boxes which is something this team is not doing very well these days.

If his wages are manageable, I don't see a problem.

He currently earns more than Lautaro does, even with his new contract. West Ham were wanting to sign him in the summer of 23 but were unwilling and unable to match his salary, so he asked Man United for a pay-off of £6m to make up the shortfall.

No in England they report gross. Which makes the number enormous.

Lautaro earns double.

But you can put anyone in the middle and look competent between two good defenders. The point is the player should be good on his own. Not arguing for or against Maguire however as we are quite good with making players useful to us no matter their previous reputation.

Thankfully with Oaktree there is no chance of Harry McGuire. 32 by next season and high wages. Basically the complete opposite of their strategy.

Watched Como - Parma yesterday. Paz is great. We should follow him closely. Bernabé looks also promising. But that Bonny guy impressed me the most. Never heard of him. Strong as a bull, great link up play, fast. Only 20 years old I saw. Probably out of our price range at the end of the season tho.

Nico Paz has the eyes of Cambiasso 👀

Before anyone gets excited - you should know that Real Madrid secured a long-term buy-back clause:
If Real move to bring Paz back next summer, it will cost them €9 million.

A year later, in 2026, this figure rises to €10 million, and in 2027 it will stand at €11 million.

Smart to use Como to develop him in Serie A.

It'll be more a matter of what Paz wants to do. He needed to leave Madrid to continue his development, he wasn't going to get proper playing time with the senior club this season, Ancelotti just doesn't trust young players that way. (Sound familiar?) He's balling at Como, would need to wonder just how any business would be done, if Madrid would trigger his buyback and re-sell him at a higher price if the player isn't interested in returning to the club to play. It's something Madrid has done before, I think with Philipp Lienhart or if not him then with somebody else in the Bundesliga about 7-8 years ago.

If Oaktree's strategy is gonna be based around young talent, then as I've said previously and will re-iterate now - there's plenty of young talent out there. Some a little pricier than others. If that's what you want the strategy to be, put your money where your mouth is.

I suggest Inter sign Jonathan David.

He has a nose for the goal like a fox and is very quick. Perfect age for Oaktree. DO IT.

@RotterdamNerazzurri what do you think of the potential of Milambo? I really like what I saw so far from him. With our aging midfield in mind I would think he is a great addition. And that says a lot when I talk about a player from Feyenoord.
Milambo is a great prospect. Is a really good goalscorer, especially for a midfielder, good technique, fast and great movement on and off the ball. Should stay with Feyenoord a couple of more seasons tho.

If we’re looking for a midfielder from Feyenoord it should be Q. Timber. That guy has been immense for over a year now. Really strong, lungs of a horse, really good technique, very good at intercepting the ball and in transitions. Him and Barella in one midfield…The opponents are not given a moment to catch their breath.

I always thought it was a loss for Ajax when he left. But I have my doubts about his speed of action at the absolute top. Against Leverkusen and Germany he really fell short in that in my eyes. Not entirely fair to judge him on 2 matches but those are yardsticks at the absolute top. I didn't see yesterday's match so I can't judge that

Lucas Chevalier, Lille's GK, is really great and he's only 22, I hope we consider buying him cause we won't have to worry about this position for many years.

Under France NT posts on twitter i often read people complaining for Deschamps not calling him up over Areola.

For once, Deschamps logic is understantable. He explained that having 3 GK's at starters level can be troublesome, at least Areola knows that he won't be playing and would never make a fuss.

Plus Maignan is a real piece of shit so I can see a clash happening.
