Yeah but he really adapted brilliantly to France. Eliminating Griezmann and their entire play is halted. Also playing Di Maria is a *Chef Kiss* play

Again I think that is more Messi going I want Di Maria to play than anything else.

Scaloni is great but club management is a different beast. I expect him to stay at Argentina for another cycle anyway.

I am a fan of Inzaghi for a few reasons. First I like that he seems to have some humility to him, I might be way off on his personality but he strikes me as a hard worker who is down to earth and that's the kind of leader I prefer. Second I like what he has done with the talent he has had, he produces and he's resilient. Third his teams have a clear style that shines through that I like very much.

Would be nice to see what he could do with a good owner, someone who could get him a few more players he really wants each year. But I am glad that we have him overall.

just what we need, another coach that doesn't know when to make subs and can completely choke.
I wouldn't call a man who won both of the only two tournaments he competed in a choker. Regarding subs -- it's clear he's experimenting with utilizing the hand he's dealt.

I want Inzaghi to see out his contract anyway.

Watching Argentina in KO (not just against France) really felt a lot like Simone's Inter. Against Netherlands and France they lost a 2-0 lead when they were the better side by far. Almost same pattern against Australia. They needed a save from Martinez in the last seconds to avoid extra time. It felt awfully familiar. There was no "pazza" element only against Croatia.

Yeah, I don't get the choke against France. I'd say complete dominance the first half, a masterpiece. Then in the second half, it was more even but still it was somewhat in Argentina's control. Scaloni's refusal to do subs cost them and almost cost them the World Cup. Team was half-dead at 60mins or so. And only player he takes off at regular time was Argentina's best player on the pitch Di Maria  (sub was okay per se as he was probably very tired by the time of the sub). Next midfield sub happened at 102 mins. Like what the fuck? They were getting run over and this guy just refuses to change anything.

Scaloni and his staff did a brilliant job with Argentina. He didn't manage his subs very well in the final as you and many others said, but all in all he did a good job containing France until Otamendi's individual mistake helped France back into the game. Before that France barely even had a shot, even when some of the Argentine players showed signed of fatigue.

I was not happy with Di Maria's sub either, but he was carrying an injury so his sub could probably be related to that. I was afraid Scaloni might mismanage the final like Sabella did in 2014 final or how Pekerman did against Germany in 2006 or how Bielsa managed the whole 2002 fiasco, but fortunately it ended up well this time.

Argentina was done at 70-75mins at that game. I would say single sub of De Paul <-> Paredes could have given Argentina the chance to win at regular time. Argentina was not keeping the possession too much in the latter part of second half because they were so fucking tired => France had better odds to make something happen. For the first 60 mins of that match, it was perhaps the best Argentina NT football I have ever seen. Scaloni should have reacted and I was flabbergasted for the rest of second half how he did not do anything! :D

But of course I'm giving huge credit to him overall. From 2018 to this, Copa America and World Cup won. That's massive, absolutely MASSIVE.
