Good stuff from Oba. The bicycle kick was quite amazing and one of the goals of the weekend that's for sure.... even if it was horrible defending by Bolton lol.

I can see him reaching 15+ goals if he stays healthy.

martins running off viduka would do wonders for newcastle

viduka essentially is a poor man's vieri, the way he holds the ball, provide a long target...

martins should score 20+ this season, making the 10mil pound price-tag we got for him seem insignificant when we couldve sold him to chelski the season before at maybe even 3 times that amount

Looks like NWCASTLE have loaned out Luque to Levante, this team still have Owen, Ameobi, Viduka and Alan Smith to compete a place with Martins, but Oba JUST' Don't care, he is the best Newcastle player and will always play.

Martins wants new Toon deal - The Sun

0,,2007380687,00.jpg

OBAFEMI MARTINS has opened talks with Newcastle about a new long-term contract and told them: “I will stay here as long as you want me.”

Toon hero Martins, two-goal hero on the opening day of the season in the 3-1 win at Bolton, is ready to sign a six-year deal with the club to show his commitment.

The Nigerian star was bought for £10million from Inter last summer and still has four years of his present contract to run.

But he wants to scotch any future transfer talk — after being linked with Arsenal and Chelsea — by sorting out new terms and removing the controversial £13m buy-out clause in his current agreement.

Martins, 22, said: “I love it at Newcastle under Sam Allardyce. I admit I wasn’t totally happy last season and heard about Arsenal being interested.

“It is nice when other teams want you but I only want to play for Newcastle now. I’m looking forward to renewing my contract with the club.

“There are issues and problems with the present one which need sorting out.

"We have started talking and I’ve told them how much I want to stay. They know I’m happy to be at Newcastle.

“I will sign for five years, six years or for as long as they want me.

“I never asked for the £13m buy-out to be put in my deal, it was my previous agent, so we’ll talk about taking that out.

“I’m not going anywhere. I’m buying a house and Newcastle is a great city. I enjoy working with the manager and every day there is something new in training.”

Martins’ advisor Chris Nathaniel said: “We have proposed some improvements to the contract and Newcastle are coming back to us with their ideas.

"They know Oba will stay as long as they want him.”

I'd love to see Oba play for United! What a deadly pair it would be with Rooney.

My God I miss his pace, but now with Suazo, we have pace and power a bit more goal scoring touch than Oba hopefully I think.

Grande Martins, I miss him alot

Well Suazo is WAY better than martins....martins to me until now i always feel he relys to much on speed and he has no control whatsoever, unlike suazo who is very fast but also has great technique.

Oba has scored some stunning goals since joining Newcastle. His technique has definitely improved over there where the style is much more suited to him than Italy. Suazo way better than Martins is a pretty big stretch.

Suazo is better because Suazo is at his peak, and his style has more ball control than Oba, but still Oba is young is is still developing

Great quotes from Martins in the paper the following morning, feels like everyone is positive at the minute, hope we carry it on against Reading:

"I'm very happy and settled at Newcastle, I don't take any notice of the stories saying I'll leave," Martins said in the Daily Express.

"And if Sam Allardyce is here for five years I will be here for five years as well.

"That is how much I enjoy playing for him. I don't think I'll be going anywhere while Sam is here.

"I'm scoring goals and I'm playing games, that's all you can ask for as a striker."

"It wasn't that easy when I first came to Newcastle and it took me a few months to learn about the Premier League, about England and living in Newcastle."

"I had to adapt to the style of football and it took me some time, but I'm very happy here."

Eh I've seen a lot of teams lately that copy Liverpool in one way or another. The thing with "you'll never walk alone" just seen it at Stuttgart's fans in the Champions League against Lyon.

they all lack creativity that's why we see them copy Liver.
anywayz, any news on oba?didn;'t hear much of him lately..

More Pics of OBA Vs Spurs

----------------------------------------------------------------

To another ex=inter player at the Toon, Newcastle were drawing 1-1 with Everton and then Big Sam brought Emre and Owen on with 15mins to go and he did this...

EMREGOL!!!

He then curled a free kick for Owen to head in the top corner.

Forza Oba, Forza Emre. :boogy:
