I thought Barella's performance could be summed up as a lot of quantity but not much quality.

Honestly this is the best it can be summed up. When he is switched on it doesn't matter if other midfielders aren't - like Mhiki last night. We still play well.
I do worry about the locker room chemistry because he chimps out on his teammates too much, even if he is right about it. Early in the game last night Hakan had the ball on the left side just out of the box, Barella was alone on the right flank and Hakan opted out to shoot. Barella went absolutely ballistic, he flapped his arms so hard I thought he was gonna fly out of San Siro.

So much about team's group decision not to do that shit anymore.
It's just the way he is, I'm sure even his teammates know it by now (I think it's the reason why there has never been any bad reaction or altercation about it. ) , he has nothing against them, look at his reaction when Lautaro's goal was disallowed, it wasn't directed at any one though. He puts the same energy and enthusiasm he has when he plays, in his reaction. I believe it's just his way of living the game. Sure he may be nicer to watch if he was stoic like Dumfries while still having his contribution but nobody is perfect.

He misplaced a few passes and sometimes appeared to lose focus or be a little presomptuous but Barella's game is so generous and ends up being so crucial to our midifield that him losing lucidity is forgiveable imo. I was watching the game with my brother and at some point Barella had ran up and down the right side of the pitch two times in like 2 minutes and was now on the left side, receiving the ball from Dimarco and initiating a 1-2 with Calhanoglu and my brother said: " This guy never stops running". No he doesn't.

I remember that case. I don't think it means much.

Did you notice Hakan's reaction to it? He just nonchalantly showed with his face how he had a good shooting chance so he took it. That's the end of it.

I think this is a non-issue. They are competitive motherfuckers, Barella is just a fierce soul.

Ridiculous. Imagine a colleague at work like this at work, yammering and/or losing his shit everytime the printer is out of paper or when the coffee is cold. I'm competitive as he'll but I respect my colleagues at all times and at all levels. Kaku used to act out like this but has toned it down. It's not a good look and to me worth a punch in the face. All the same, fantastic player.

This is football though, not office work.Comparison isn't really valid.

Some of yall acting like you've never played football or sports in general. You can't tell me that you've never argued and complained with your teammates and not pop a beer after the match as if nothing happened.

It’s valid in terms of teamwork. Not every footballer continuously yell at his teammates.

Arguing with teammates in the middle of the game instead of applauding to give him confidence can always go wrong in my opinion. Also it gives motivation to the opponents who will try to take advantage of it.

Anyway this is why Barella shouldnt even get near the captain armband.

Yep but if you play football you probably have had some teammate who's so obnoxious that it'd be so nice to play without them lol.

Sure, but how often has this made the team play any better? All it does is make everyone on the team get tilted.

First I thought that Barella will hit the ball, and when Lautaro did,.my second thought was "isn't he offside?".

Rubbish. Try working a sales job in a saturated market. There're stressful situations everywhere. Not just in professional sports. Passion is fine. He just needs to temper it. Note Lukaku. He was just as bad. Focus on the game and helping your team mates. The number of mistakes barella made in the 2nd half he's not in a position to talk.

Exactly this. TV viewer from thousand kilometers away having uncomfortable feelings over Barella's intensity on the pitch needs to just bear with it.

Lol some of you defending this attitude in this forum were shouting medieval profanities at Lukaku when he was flapping his hands at every missed opportunity. Call it what it is and stop being fucking biased because you dislike one player and like the other. Teammates should learn to encourage each other, not act like fucking toddlers who didn’t get sweets because mummy said no. Barella should learn to keep that rubbish in check, he keeps doing this constantly. Dude looked like he got shot by a sniper in the crowd, if anything else it looked fucking hilarious! 🤣
