There are some really skewed opinions on the last few pages of this thread ranging from: Barella being overrated to Ancelotti conspiracy theories.

I am wondering why many posters on here have chosen to ignore or will not admit to the following:

- Barella is exhausted, hence his recent below par performances;
- We did not stand a chance of beating Madrid in Madrid;
- There is a huge gap in class, both in terms of playing personnel and mentality and their abilities, between Real Madrid and Inter;
- Barella's red card and absence, whether it will be for a game or two games will detrimentally effect us in the next round;
- Some posters may not like this, but do you remember when Conte in his first season talked about European experience and only having the likes of Barella? Barella's petulance, red card and suspension for the next round are exactly what Conte was referring to, even back then.

Essentially, Conte was not criticising Barella and the way he plays the game. He was commenting on his experience, or lack thereof when it comes to playing in the Champions League.

Barella's red card against Madrid is a case on point as he failed to understand the occassion and did not have the presence of mind to refrain from doing anything stupid that would only hurt the team both in the game they were playing and in the next round.

Despite winning the Euros with Italy and a Scudetto with Inter, Barella and the rest of the team are still green when it comes to playing in the Champions League against quality opposition. Seasoned European teams like Real Madrid know exactly what to do to gain and take advantage. Barella took the bait and in so doing let down his coach, teammates and our supporters.

Barella is not Captain material. He is hot headed and opponents know he is susceptible to losing his shit.

Lastly, I do not think that Barella needs the armband to play and perform at a high level.

Ridiculous post tbh.

Also we offered him real money, what the fuck is this? Everyone should get 6m€ now?
What's ridiculous about it?

Obviously I'm making fun of Suning's absurd financial situation but the armband being offered to him is certainly intended as an incentive to extend.

Maybe it wasn't clear but like I said, or tried to say, I'd be far more patient with Barella and his increasingly-diva antics if he could just finish marginally better. Lukaku was rightfully slaughtered here because of his infuriating gesticulation and blaming of teammates but Barella is significantly worse. He throws his hands up in the air in exasperation with every misplaced pass, despite repeatedly losing the ball himself. He furiously hurls his arms at his teammates every time they miss a chance, while he consistently butchers easy chances himself.

Why can't I want him to: a) shut the fuck up and stop being a prick to his teammates, and b) maybe convert some of the easy chances he gets?

Man, you fucking guys :lol:

Yeah Barella was an idiot and fell on Militaos provocation. And yeah he is very poor in the past month or so. And yeah I do agree he shouldn't be a captain.

But don't forget that he is exhausted, both mentally and physically. Last year he has played 46 games for Inter alone, most of them full 90 minutes. He was one of Italys sure starters at the Euro, and previously in the nations league and WC qualifications as well. He is not a robot, he played like 60+ games in one season, this was bound to happen. He needs a rest, hopefully sooner rather than later, as we will need him.
Brozo played more minutes then Nico 3245 vs Nico's 2874. Has also played 89 minutes more then Nico this season. He is also 5 years older then Nico.
This tiredness excuse is getting old when Brozo doesn't look tired at all.

Don't try this playstyle excuse of Nico runs more then brozo we know it's factually incorrect as Brozo covers the most ground of any midfielder in serie a.

Its to see Nico realizes he has screwed up:

Brozo is a machine, not a man. There is rarely someone with that stamina, at Inter, I only remember him and Zanetti.

I agree with all of the points, except the last one. That just turned out to be a coincidence in optics at this particular moment.

Conte was being a cunt when he said that, his intention was to provoke the management (as he did very often), and any named invidiual at that moment was just the collateral damage that wasn't taken into consideration. I don't care what the circumstances are, there is never anything to benefit from shit talking your own squad in front of media. Conte got us a scudetto, congratulations, but that doesn't make every bad move he pulled validated, let alone justified or erased.

Regarding Barella, it's not like we needed 3 seasons to realize he is a hothead, that was clear from his day 1 at Inter. Dude collects yellow cards like they are panini stickers. And if we are being objective, he did improve his careless approach to challenges. Shit happening from time to time is to be expected when a player has grinta like he does. You can't neuter that completely even if you wanted, and if you could - you wouldn't like the result anyway.

The moment for this situation is not ideal but I'm glad that to see that a player has some heart to him. If Materazzi arrived to Inter two decades later than he did he would've been crucified every weekend on FIF. It's a full contact, collision sport. I don't hold this against Barella, much like how I don't hold it against my dog when he takes a dump on my lawn.

Whether he should apologize or whether should the club penalize him is a matter of public image, not morals and right or wrong.

Facts. Too emotional. If I was an opponent, I would Pat Bev the hell out of Barella to get a reaction out of him. That said, it's possible that Barella can turn it all around and learn to harness and target that energy. I mean if Bellingham (youngest player to get sent off in BLiga history :lol:) can then anything is possible

Not everyone has the same stamina levels. And Brozo doesn't run at full pelt for 90 minutes, he's more conserved with his energy, moving from point to point at a moderate pace.

Great response today. Sure the team is shit but who cares you have to play who’s in front of you and honestly he hasn’t looked this good even against the minnows recently. Maybe that red card gave him something to prove again.

Some of you pricks needed this reminder :)
Great gesture from the fans. Still a long way to go before we give him the armband. 1 goal and 7 assists so far this season. 100% sure he'll get double digit assists by February. That red card has served us well so far.

Just when I was starting to worry about, he had a really good performance today albeit against a really lousy team. Better days ahead!

probably his best game of the season. if only some of his shots would go in. It was also nice seeing him not losing his mind every time he made a mistake or got fouled.
