Nicolás Paz Martínez (born 8 September 2004) is a professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Serie A club Como. Born in Spain, he plays for the Argentina national team.

Nico Paz is a great player, coaches try to adjust their tactical mindset when dealing with great players. I respect the player but in the meantime we'll keep our own."

Nico Paz has quality, he has everything. He will have a fantastic career. I don't know him but I've heard good things about him, even on a human level. He has quality and he's physically good too"

Important details:

Madrid has three buyback options for Paz, at a gradually escalating price for the next three summers. Per Yahoo:

The info comes courtesy of transfer insider Matteo Moretto of Relevo, who has confirmed that, if Real move to bring their former starlet back next summer, it will cost them €9 million.

A year later, in 2026, this figure rises to €10 million, and in 2027 it will stand at €11 million.

Odds are, if we want Paz, we have to go through Madrid. The good news is that we have good relations with Madrid, we've sold to them, they've sold to us, and while Paz would have a role in their squad if they wanted in 2025-'26, they still have a pretty full midfield on numbers in general.

Oaktree is talking about legitimately investing in youth, not just playing scratch off tickets and hoping to get lucky. This would be one great way to show that kind of investment and commitment. I know this isn't a scientific explanation, but the Madrid fans I've talked with estimate that he could be had around €20-25M. That's gotta be somewhere in our budget, I'd hope.

No one is worried that this guy mostly plays as a #10 for Como, a position that doesn't exist in Inzaghi's system?

Maybe he turns into Inzaghi's new Luis Alberto but it's a risk for the money Real are going to ask for.

I prefer my boy Bernabe. He's perfect to replace Mkhi in the long term. My only worry about him is his injury history.

Not really. Hakan and Mkhitaryan used to be closer to the goal too.

This is a legit concern and one that I have brought up in discussions elsewhere about him as well. That, yeah, there would need to be some adaptation with both Paz and Inzaghi to make it work in his system, that Paz plays a position Inzaghi doesn't use.

It's not a deal-breaking issue in my view, things can be learned and figured out, but I do share your concern in this way.

Sadly, 35mil minimum unless Real don't value him.

I say he is worth it, but unless we sell Frattesi for the same amount (or more), we ain't buying Paz.

I would love Paz as a long term Mkhi replacement, but its extremely unlikely. Inter already invested in Zielinski for that

I really wish Inter had the money to get Paz, David & Christensen (or players of at least that level / talent) next summer, but I doubt it will happen. I fear its more punts like Palacios & Josef Martinez from now on. Oaktree want young players on low wages, but seem reluctant to spend big money for it

He could play as a support striker in a 3-5-1-1 type of situation. Next year we only have 3 forwards on the roster so there is room there.

I like Bernabe as well but I like Paz’ physicality. It provides an added aerial threat and may also help defensively.

You wish.

The reality is we're far more likely to sell Thuram and sign some 35yo freebies as replacement.
All the reports are now pointing out this policy is over and the rejuvenation project of the squad is starting (hopefully slowly to not blow anything up). Last summer was the first step.

Marotta himself confirmed they will focus on younger players from now on. If I find time between Christmas feasts 😅 I will post the whole interview.

The time of Inter signing veterans is over.

Fortunately, freebies are available in all kinds of ages.

Selling Lautaro makes more sense than selling Thuram
