MEH What are all the big games in serie a san siro is usually only sold out vs bbilan and jube...
SO thats 2 out of 19 home games + usually 1 or two group stage CL games and the knockout games in CL... So we reach 80K on like 4 to 6 games per season....
The rest usually does not crack 70k
Imho having a 60k to 65k stadium is totally fine...

Also dont get me wrong i love san siro but it s just not a option it would have to be renovated from the ground up it would probably cost us more to do so and even in that case we d probably cut capacity to 65-70k.
They just sold out vs Salernitana, but ok.

I have a feeling a lot of the fans are coming out because the last 2.5 seasons have had limits on attendees.

Same thing with Milan https://www.transfermarkt.com/ac-mailand/besucherzahlenentwicklung/verein/5

Unless we all think that this season isn't an obvious outlier, 65k is basically more than enough, especially given Inter and Milan's heyday (1998-2012), both teams averaged around 50-60k

Mayor Sala believes ‘troubled’ new stadium debate will ‘take a year or so’ to be resolved

The Mayor of Milan Beppe Sala has claimed that it could take a year before full approval arrives from the City Council for AC Milan and Inter to build their new stadium.

The two Milano-based clubs have been working on the project for a very long time and they have faced several setbacks in that period, with both sides expressing their frustration that they have not even been able to set a date to break ground.

Sala clarified some important aspects of the construction of the new Milan stadium during an interview with Calcio e Finanza in which he admitted that the green light is not yet close, with his comments relayed by our colleagues at SempreMilan.it.

“In the city council, to decide on the stadium, I think it will take a year or so. Now, unfortunately, this stadium story is so troubled and my intention is to take it one step at a time,” he said.

“The next step will be to receive, on November 18, the result of the public debate. From this, we will have to formally respond either by accepting the observations that have been made, or by rejecting them by arguing. After that the council will deliberate.

“At that point the teams will have the task, on the one hand of building the executive project and on the other hand, of explaining better how San Siro would be dismantled, unless you find other interests on the road. Opinions change in a year.

“I have the impression that on a subject like this, when we go to the council there may not be the classic division between center-left and center-right. But this is my impression to date, in a year who knows how things will be.”

Milan president Paolo Scaroni was recently asked if there is a possibility that Milan could build a new stadium away from the site of the current San Siro if things took too long and possibly without Inter, and he did not seem against the idea.

Just move to sesto. They are happy to have the teams let Sala and Co deal with the political fallout of losing the teams.

I don't understand what the hesitation to build at Sesto San Giovanni is?

Is the San Siro so sacred that both teams are willing to put up with this BS for years on end?

SMH, the bureaucratic bullshit.

It has been discussed for 10 years, approve and get out of the way. Italian governments are their own worst enemy!

True, but at least at the national level alot of this bureaucratic trash is about to be solved.

Yeah this is interesting because that possible site for a new stadium wouldn't even be much further than the San Siro district. Anyone know if there's poorer public transport to the area or otherwise more difficult access there?

This indeed doesn't make any sense to just prolong this on and on. Just make the decision and move to Sesto San Giovanni.

If you look on Google Maps, SSG is serviced by the Milan Metro already (Metro Station is Sesto Rondo, 10 km NNE from city centre) and the rail network (Train Station Sesto San Giovanni).

It's about twice as far from the city centre as San Siro (5 km west), and is halfway to Monza

Oh okay, looked wrong where the city centrum is. Anyway, I could guess the old and known place is the preference.

We haven't read about this but maybe this case being dragged on and on might be because of Inter and its ownership too?

I understand the hesitation to not go to sesto. San Siro just had it's metro line and stations put in for expo and even though the metro closes at midnight (actually more like 23:50) and strands everyone after a Champions League match, it's still the best way to access the stadium.

Can't they pay to add a line? or multiple lines to the stadium. At this point the stadium issue is more about money. Neither team has any and using the politics of Milan to cover it up.

Second we sell the club to some rich dude who actually has the money and wants the stadium the team will move.

You think a stadium is hard to build in Italy then what do you think about a metro line to a stadium that is half way to Monza? It'll probably cost a few billion Euro too. Come on guys this is getting silly now.

You guys say it like Monza is a hundred kilometres away

Monza is 18 km away, like you could probably literally walk there in 2 hours at a brisk pace

SSG is ALREADY served by the Milan Metro and rail network
