Unless we officially say no one makes over 5 million now. Even then we can make an exception for our captain and anyone who already is over that. If in 2 years he wants a contract upgrade we sell him.

Time to get serious about what the plan to renovate the defense is. Skriniar staying would be a complete miracle at this point.
We need to identify the targets now. Scalvini seems like one, but costly and not enough if we lose Skriniar and De Vrij. We'll probably go with another grandpa we can get on a free or on loan.. sad times.

So I can understand why entering into contract negotiations may reveal your hand to other clubs who are looking to attract your players, but it didn’t help any party by avoiding to have this conversation with Skriniar in the summer.
Having contract negotiations in the summer of 2022 would at least have allowed for a bigger transfer fee instead of this current situation.
If Skriniaar rejected a renewal in summer and club sold for 40-50 or even 35 its better than the likely 0-10million you may get now.
Current worse case scenario looks to be at play here, where player walks for free.

Skriniar leaving on a free is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. ESPECIALLY seeing as how we’re desperate for money. Everyone should be fired top to bottom if this is the case. Gross, gross incompetence.

Also, he's not more important than Lautaro or Brozovic, who earn the max.

We just had two reports within 1 day one claiming we offred 6 the other claiming we offred 6.5 same reports one claimed skriniar wants 6.5 the other claims he wants 8...

Like they waited last minute unless Skriniar was like can I go to Bayern or Real Madrid for free. Him going to PsG or the Epl is over money.
If he leaves for Bayern or Real it’s to win the champions league and be in arguably the best team in the world.
Psg and EPl is for cash which look I get money is awesome but 6-10 million isn’t that big of a deal.
Winning champions and the league every season is very attractive to any player.

He can still have a shot at SuperCup, then play the CL matches vs Porto and advance ( remember this is as far he has come in his career) , maybe with a little luck maybe even have a shot for a historic 20th title. NostradamusMost Diverse PosterI honestly feel we have a good outside shot to reach the CL semis this year. obviously depending on the draws, and we're looking to fuck it up by imploding in January.
Beat Porto (not easy, but better to face Porto than Liverpool, City, Real or PSG) then you have a 4/7 chance to avoid a top team as Real Madrid or Liverpool will be out, PSG or Bayern will be out and you'll have Manchester City. We should be able to match up with Napoli, Milan/Tottenham, Chelsea/Dortmund or Benfica in the quarters, especially if that's the only competition we have a chance of advancing further as the Scudetto seems out of the question now.
Instead, watch us fuck it all up, lose to Porto after we sell 2 starters (perhaps Skriniar and Dumfries) without adequately replacing them and barely competing for that top 4 spot a la Spalletti years.
If only the ownership showed a glimpse of ambition or at least care for the club. They don't. We're abandoned and kept captive.
