Honestly, I would rather get rid of the thanks counting rather than readopting it. I like people showing their true oppinions and not oppinions based on the amount of thanks to be possibly received. I am probably very alone with this thought.

For what it's worth, for me it only takes me to the first post if there are no unread posts, otherwise it appends the /unread on the URL and takes me to the first unread post.
Same here, but that kind of makes sense. You can see by the thread title font (it' usually darker or lighter, less prominent if there are no unreads) if there is something new there. If not, you can jump to the last post by clicking on the timestamp (a moment ago, 25 minutes ago, ...) on the far right.

You're not alone

(Cool, it doesn't "update" the previous post either)

It’s looking good but somehow still confusing… I will get used to it soon. Good job!

Looks good, but how do you go to the last post? I see no button.

We reached out to a couple of the graphic design folks on the forum, but they were pretty busy.
That's a VERY polite way of saying that I completely forgot about this and never responded. Sorry folks. Like the new banner though! It's been a wild time in my free time, sorry!

Eh, back in the day before the thanks feature existed, forum members would just reply to posts saying "great post!" and "completely agree!"

This is the lesser of two evils. Virtual karma is part of being on the internet.

Imo, the thank/like feature is an extremely simple and useful way to show that you agree with a post. If it didn't exist, every time you agreed with someone, you'd have to either post reply saying that you agree or do nothing at all. And doing nothing reduces interaction (and interaction is why we are all here after all).

I mean look at brehme, who has forced upon himself the rule of not thanking posts. Poor guy literally had to post a reply just to say he agrees with you :ROFLMAO:

What I wouldn't oppose tho is removing the likes count under the avatar.

Also I've been meaning to ask: is this effecting the overall cost of running the site at all? I've been meaning to donate for quite a while now, and if this has increased the bill in anyway I'm more than happy to donate extra.

Not significantly, no. The monthly cost is still the same, the only extra cost is the up front one-time xenForo forum software license. There's an annual support/upgrade cost, but nothing too crazy.
